The R1 has this effect once you look at it its just so damn hard to get your eyes off it.

I too went to the Yamaha showroom last week and was so much in love with her that i just did not want to leave the dealership , i also checkedout the Fireblade the same day but it did not have that effect on me but i still prefer the blade as its a swiss army knife of liter bikes.

Congrats on getting the best looking bike ever , have fun and do share your adventurers with us.

    Ride Safe.

I sold it for 6000$. I could have gotten more for it if i had put the stock parts back on it and sold all the aftermarket parts separately. But i dint wanna do that to her. I think the price was fair for the bike with the number of miles on it and of course all the mods. It had a full exhaust as well.

        That bike looks effin HOT!!

Can you please elaborate on how much of a savings is it going for a year old bike? I assume the bike here was brand new, & just that it was a 2010 model, right?
How much savings is a tough question. It depends on how much you can haggle with the dealer. The thing with a year old bikes is, Yamaha it self discounts them with a rebate and with good financing options. Currently yamaha has a 750$ rebate and 3.99% financing on 2010 models. The best way to buy is to try to get as close to the invoice price (price what dealer paid Yamaha for the bike) of the bike. I managed to buy it for the invoice price. Of course you have to pay tax and documentation fess over that. I could have haggled more, but i dint wanna screw the dealer out of his profit either. I would say both parties were happy. I paid 12K$ total for it. Which is about 1500-2000$ less than the bike was selling for when it came out new in 2010. Although on the east coast, i know folks who bought it for about 11K total. Lot depends on local market conditions etc.
And yes, the bike was brand new.

Well you got R1 thats great but what I would like to know is what made you sell your Crispy R6? Just because I am a R6 die hard fan so just want to know if there were any implications, limitations, etc etc.. as I know you spend a lot of time with her and was in Love with the machine.
It was hard to watch her go. It really was. Part of me regretted it. She opened up a whole new world for me. But hopefully she has found a new and nice home. I dont know what else to say....stay safe dear R6.

What made me sell? Well.....to tell you the truth, i was looking at the resale value. I had initially planned to wait another year before i upgraded. Part of the reason was to wait and watch the JAP4 strike back against the BMW. My buddies and i spoke to lengths about it and came to the conclusion that "WHO CARES". Does it really matter to us which bike is the fastest, most powerful, or voted the best of the best??
Do we really think we are going to test its real potential to the point where those HP numbers and seconds make a difference to us?

Anyway, i decided that if i want to upgrade why not do it now when i can get good returns for my old bike and can probably save a few thousands on getting my dream bike. I have always wanted an R1, and i dint wanna settle for anything less, or anything more. Owning the R6 was always a stepping stone to the Big R. I think i have enough if not a lot exp to saddle up on the Big R. HELL YEAH

I could fathom the sadness of departing with your beloved R6...
Deep down everyone feels the way your Gixxer pal felt for one particular bike and then none of the roadtests, features and other bragging doesnt matter...

Glad you have found 'THE ONE'
So glad man.....The R1s have captivated a million hearts. It is truly worthy of its legendary billing. ICONIC

Whatever you choose to get eventually, dont settle for something you are not completely head over heals about. Trust me on that. If its the blade, so be it. You wont go wrong with any of these. Ride safe.

Did the BMW S1000 RR cross your mind.
Its priced well in US , its ridiculously priced here in India.
Have u ridden the S1000 RR or checked out on ur pursuit of getting the liter class bike of ur dreams, it looks like the monster waiting to be unleashed.
              [From what i have read]

This might be a bit off topic but i want to know.

I missed out on a chance to test ride the S1000RR.
But no, it never entered my thought process to get one. Again its a much better looking bike in person. Although i still cant get over its front end. From what i am told, it behaves like a GSXR1000 with monster top end.
The only other bike i considered was the Ducati Streetfighter...and Kachinngg's post made me think about it more.
But, i am a YAMAHA guy at the core. And i just had to own the Big R.

Guess we all have our dream rides and for u it was the R1.

How is the handling , engine vibrations, ride quality at high speeds compared to a Blade since u have ridden both.

US is the best place to ride these kind of motorcycles - the weather is moderate, you can park your bike in a car parking, riding gear available aplenty ,few people fidget with your bike and the interstates and twisties are open for weekend rides. And best of all - the Gas is cheap!

                            Congratulations!

+1 to all of the above.

But what about the speed limits and cops who hide behind bushes with speed guns? Getting caught in India for overspeeding is not so much of a big deal as in the USA. There it attracts a court fine and probable imprisonment too.

DUI in India has the similar consequences too.

Just that we Indian's are "proud" that we can wiggle out of such situations...
