And for more fun in the US, there are many tracks in each state, unlike India where there are only couple of decent tracks in the entire country.

Which is a good thing, no? Keeps people from getting into trouble. And speed limit laws are realistic in the US - you can easily cruise at 70-80 miles an hour legally, which to me, makes perfect sense. India laws at 60kmph on highways are ridiculous - was good 3 decades ago with bad roads and vehicles to match, but that ain't the case anymore. Still the speed limits remain the same.Originally posted by n_aditya View Post

Thanks for the detailed & patient reply.Originally posted by Carlitos View PostHow much savings is a tough question. It depends on how much you can haggle with the dealer. The thing with a year old bikes is, Yamaha it self discounts them with a rebate and with good financing options. Currently yamaha has a 750$ rebate and 3.99% financing on 2010 models. The best way to buy is to try to get as close to the invoice price (price what dealer paid Yamaha for the bike) of the bike. I managed to buy it for the invoice price. Of course you have to pay tax and documentation fess over that. I could have haggled more, but i dint wanna screw the dealer out of his profit either. I would say both parties were happy. I paid 12K$ total for it. Which is about 1500-2000$ less than the bike was selling for when it came out new in 2010. Although on the east coast, i know folks who bought it for about 11K total. Lot depends on local market conditions etc.
And yes, the bike was brand new.
You got a real good deal on the new bike, & glad to know you finally managed to find one through your friend.
Do treat us to more pics, and info on any aftermarket stuff you plan to install on the bike.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

The RSV4 looks so damn small. almost like a 600. But that V4 block weighs a lot. Its as heavy as the R1 i think. But once you get it moving apparently its a dream. And the V4 sound, unique as hell.
Get the wife into riding motorcycles man..problem solved

Which is why you need something like thisOriginally posted by n_aditya View PostCongrats Carl. Ride safe and wishing you many miles of happy riding.
+1 to all of the above.
But what about the speed limits and cops who hide behind bushes with speed guns? Getting caught in India for overspeeding is not so much of a big deal as in the USA. There it attracts a court fine and probable imprisonment too.

op nice bike!
weather is moderate only in a few places...Originally posted by bluevolt View PostUS is the best place to ride these kind of motorcycles - the weather is moderate, you can park your bike in a car parking, riding gear available aplenty ,few people fidget with your bike and the interstates and twisties are open for weekend rides. And best of all - the Gas is cheap!
Congratulations!
gas sadly is no longer cheap
rest spot on... lots of options, good roads, etc
not really ppl. still get into trouble for speeding, some dumbass thinks he is riding in wsbk and ends up on news for going 150+ (usually its a gsxr1000 or a R1Originally posted by bluevolt View PostWhich is a good thing, no?
