Guys ! Please make it "Dhoom" and not "Doom"!!! I am pretty superstitious when it comes to these bikes ........ Wouldn't want to think of the word without the "h" factor

It is all a quick movement, all in a few milliseconds.... you get used to it as you get the feel of the bike. That way, the jerk is substantially reduced and the ride is much smoother.
But don't overdo the revs while changing gears and releasing the clutch or you'll end up as a one wheeled bandit

i really dont know where you guys get all these ideas from . if you mean that for downshifting thats fine otherwise that is pretty much a deathtrap , like streetfighter say , something to get on one wheel and flip the bike specially ones with this many horses

there is absolutely no reason to rev the bike when changing up. hell there is absolutely no reason to use the clutch while changing up most of the time. but that is a slightly more advanced techniquie. its easy just take s a bit of practise.

think about it logically , when you change up the revs drop . there is no reason to rev the bike.

when you downshift though its another story. thats when the revs go up and youll feel it through the rear wheel if you dont match the engine rpm to the rear wheel. hence you blip the throttle to get a smooth downshift

the jerk that you are feeling is probably just improper clutch and throttle control. smoothness is the key to riding these machines

Well, I wrote about my experience based on the the response of bikes I have ridden. That includes a few of these bikes we are talking about. What I wrote was more about shifting up through the gears. Accelerating a bit before you let out the clutch fully does make the changes smoother and you don't feel as much of a jerk as you do otherwise, especially from 1st to 2nd gear.
You may be right about the improper clutch and throttle control, but I do find the minor adjustments I make do contribute to a smoother ride.......

what you are saying there is called slipping the clutch. google it and its a technique for popping wheelies. i would have let it go but its a bit of a death trap on these bikes and there is absolutely no need for revving between gears.

ive hardly used the clutch to go from 1st to 6th on my gixxer 600, my zx10 or my 250 in the last couple of years.
when you do use the clutch just practise rolling the throttle smoothly as soon as the clutch starts to engage . being ham fisted with the right hand can only cause concern as you can relase about 180 horses on these bikes with half a turn of your wrist if that

@csgup1: I have no doubt you are right. I definitely don't suggest anybody let lose with a twist of the wrist..... certainly not the way you would on a 100 cc. That would certainly be a death trap as you say.
The technique works for me, though maybe the way you have written about rolling the throttle smoothly would get the message across better. Will be careful to think of the implications before I advice next time. Thanks.

If you don't pop a wheelie trying this technique you will do the one thing more dangerous; spinning the rear wheel.

To avoid the engine braking (what you call jerkiness) just shift gears faster.

By faster I don't mean earlier in the rev range.

I've never had either problem using this technique...... though it may depend on the extent of the twist of course. I can imagine that an excessive twist may contribute to either.......
