hi...I had enquired long time back about this scheme mentioned in the first post. I personally opted for 5 year tenure since EMI for 3 year becomes heavy. For Bangalore the on Road price is around 12.5lacs and 4% Octroi extra for mumbai.

Minimum amount you need to pay is 3.2-3.5 lacs and you get 8.27lac of loan. EMI for this comes down around 18300-18600types (reducing), which is very good compared to bank loan.

Hence best thing to do is have higher initial high down payment to have EMI in the range of 10-12k which becomes affordable [].
Afterall 5k would be atleast monthly expenditure on The One. []

            The One turns one today

7472 kms, and a beautiful year later, the R1 never fails to stir something inside me when I thumb the starter.

Will post up the total cost of ownership over the past year shortly.. Have a stack of bills to compile and update.

I can still remember the day I got the One like it was yesterday

Congratulations Rossiter, it feels just like yesterday that we read your thread about how the PDI was completed, about how you were waved off with claps, et al when you first time hit the road with your black beauty and the other small details that you had mentioned in the thread which got the adrenaline flowing in all of us, as if we were right there with you..!!

Wow! This is really touching. Congratulations to both of you (you and your 'One) once again. Keep riding!

Congrats Rossiter. 7.5k in a year is pretty good on a sbk. And all the more better when its not all in a straight line.

We (Sunny &I) had a discussion with the Yamaha guys a few days back. We wanted a thorough go-over of our bikes (plugs, injectors etc etc) while their 'service schedule' didn't call for it and so they were reluctant. Our take on this was different.

Using a superbike like the R1 in a country like ours puts it through a totally different set of loads...meaning compared to anywhere in Europe or the US. And the established service schedules for these bikes are made keeping in view the usage patterns of the West, their primary market. So very different from what we have here. The climate, the roads, the dust, the traffic, the fuel etc etc are way way different and far more troubling for the machine. We two have accumulated almost 10k kms collectively on both the bikes over the past 3-4 months of usage and have put them through a w i d e variety of terrain, roads and riding patters. (Rajasthan, Himachal, urban Delhi). Yamaha, instead of imposing a service schedule geared for entirely different usage model, can actively interact with us, keep a close watch on our bikes' parameters and modify the existing service norms to one more tuned to usage here.

This 'rare' data is available to them for free actually...with a few high milers like you, Ken and now us, riding around on these bikes. Well, the argument did ring a bell for the Regional Service Head. Sunny's bike was given a thorough once-over (took two days) and the result is a swell running bike. It was running harsh, would frequently stall and take a rather long burst of the self-starter to fire up. No more such issues now. Mine will go in for this ICU service a week or so before we leave for the GIR.

In short, we would love to know, in suitable detail, your experience of the bike both from the riding and the technical standpoint (Your technical competence here is again a rarity and so it makes your feedback pretty credible). These machines are superb pieces of engineering design and execution and nothing should go wrong with them through 'normal' usage and care. Usage is something we can control but the responsibility for the 'care' part is Yamaha's job, needing state-of-the-need norms and an active 'user in the loop' approach.

                    Ride long and safe...
                    OF

PS: Agree with Aparajith about taking a day off and 'treating' her. A tankful of clear amber 97 Octane I guess will suffice.
I don't let my motorcycles interfere with my motorcycling...

A long, winding, eventful year completed. Congrats! OF has summarized our experienced with the Yamaha service officials. I found all of them an understanding lot and very pleasing talk to, unlike their earlier management counterparts.

The bike is indeed running fantastic and very smooth, though I dont know how long it will continue to run like that.
