      too bad!
But seriously.. I want to pit the R1 against your TeeZer. Maybe Raju can tell us what kind of a laptime comparo to expect. I hope it won't be something like the F2007 against the other cars in GT5 Prologue
Raju reckons the TZR will be quicker around the track with the right tires.

        • Any updates AKHIL..?

          Comment

          • The only update is.. the bike is still grounded. Most of the major parts like the head gasket and the intake valves are here. We're waiting for ONE exhaust valve and the valve pads of varying thicknesses. The new date for the parts to come in is this week, but I don't have too much confidence. So still playing the wait and watch game.

Will be going there today to see how the CF parts look on the bike. Should get some pics and post it soon

                • Yeah it's been over a month since I updated the thread about the problem.

Basically, all the parts are here, except for one part which costs about ~Rs. 600 or so. This part is out of stock in Singapore (believable), and they had to find it in Japan. While one would assume that Yamaha Japan will have the part, seeing as how the bike is built there, it was quite irritating to see them claim that the part is not in stock in Japan as well. So they had to contact Yamaha Europe for the part, and they found it there

So the part is on it's way to Singapore, which is the regional distribution centre for the parts, then it will go to Faridabad, and THEN it will be sent to Bangalore. After this happens, the people from Delhi will come down to Bangalore and fix my bike. I'm looking at the month end tentatively for the bike to be back in my garage.

At this point, I've just gotten used to the bike not being around. It's just that bad. I honestly don't know who's fault it is, or whether the system Yamaha India has is not effective enough, but it's leaving a very sour taste in my mouth. So much that I've thought about selling my bike off just to rid myself of the heartache. It does cause a lot of heartache when I pay the EMIs for a bike which sits in the garage for months together waiting for parts. It does cause heartache when the R1 as a brand takes a beating for no fault of the bike itself.

The only thing preventing me from selling it off, is the state of the other companies selling their CBU bikes here. They are no better, in fact worse.

I don't know when it'll get better, but as a result of the last one year, I've learnt to depend on myself and inputs from knowledgeable people such as OF, to sort out most issues myself.

I've begun to see the R1 ownership experience as the way a baby is adopted from a surrogate mother. After the delivery (PDI), if the baby (my R1) craps loose or is constipated (one cylinder not working), can't go running back to the biological mother (Yamaha), asking her to fix it.

Unless there's a genetic problem (manufacturing defect).

                  • ^^Sorry Akhil, but this is pathetic. I, in fact have to appreciate the way ur taking it all up. I for one would have SERIOUSLY lost my cool. Guess, this IS and WILL be the case of the FIRSTS...U being one of the FIRST owner of CBU imports!! Hopefully u do get back ur ride ASAP. I don't think we have any other option left other than praying for this!

It actually pains to see a state of the art machine suffer this much inspite of the love, care, affection and what-not showered on it.

Cant u drop a word to Mr. Moritho??

                      • Thats sad Akhil....mere explainations and no action. I doubt if this is actually the way Yamaha works globally. This seems more a case of the I'll effects of centralized management than Yamaha's system in general. The whole thing here is centered too much on very few people. And they in turn make a very big deal out of the bike's credentials. 1000cc or 2000,it still remains a bike.Yamaha India acts as if they have imported a goddamn rocket from Japan and it's user must reset his demand clock in terms of weeks and months instead of days. Usually exclusivity begets special treatment. Here it is just the opposite. I guess it's time for you to get a couple of mail ID's of some top bosses in Japan and mail them a loving note.

Couldn't have put it better. Just what I was thinking when I read Akhil's post, which was emotional.

I guess an email to the Yamaha's top brass wouldn't degrade the situation.

                            • oh man, thats pretty depressing. Not having the bike around for such a long time really hurts. And I do remember you telling me that once the engine is open, it might not be the same anymore.

I hope you get it back soon and get back on the highway.

                              • @rossiter: This is downright shitty !
I thought long and hard but i guess that's the best word for the scenario

Some eloquence in the way you've written the surrogate mother-angle. Had called you a month back and have been persisting for news. I feared the worst when you didn't respond to either SMS/PM/FB posts.
Im flabbergasted to know that YMIL or whatever they've renamed themselves as are as lethargic as our (un)friendly neighbourhood motorcycle dealers

Im being honest here and thought that you were having some kinda reunion party with your four-cylinder babe and hence didn't respond
                                Sorry for that Akhil.

P.S: Like Santa says, i think you're approaching that point when even you're gonna ask Yamaha to shove it if they delay any further.
I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.
