I thought the whole point of having insurance was being able to claim it when the situation arose I know enough people who have, self included.

CB 1000 in Mumbai is 11,76,710 OTR

I think you should go for the Ducati as you love the badge.

They've sold quite a few bikes and you have the following to choose from: 795, 796, 848, 1198, Diavel, Strada, GT1000 as well the last time I was there. The dealership was under construction then.

Personally I love the Japanese machines and will certainly own I4 someday but then after spending a decent amount of time on these L-twins I seem to like them as much already. Wish they weren't so expensive. While I thoroughly enjoyed riding 796, my heart is set on the 848 among'st the Ducatis. Felt quite at home on the bike as we rode them to Shimla and back and had a great time shooting pictures as well, but that's for another time.

I would also pay good attention to what Samyak has to say. Spares and service could be an issue but Ducati Chandigarh seemed to be gearing up to handle service as far as a potential owner is concerned. They had technicians over from Ducati looking at some of the bikes and setting them up. Be sure to check on the service part when you visit the dealer as I am not currently updated on the same as I write this.

But I've been reading up on the issues surrounding Ducati dealerships closing and AFAIK this is the only dealer in North India at the moment.

I'll PM you the number, you can give them my reference.
Thanks. I will check them out.

            I hate this thread now...

I am almost at the verge of deciding to wait for a year. When Triumph is here. It may drive prices on other bikes too, and by then more options should be available (or at least a Ducati dealership in Delhi).

I hate this thread. I was supposed to call Ducati and book a bike

              Sir,
My friend, and fellow XBHPian: Unfortunately, in India, we do not have a RANGE of bikes to choose from. Those who are in my condition know this. Its either this or that. Either a faired one, or a naked one. Choices in India are really limited. And not to mention the ridiculous CBU prices because of which My dream bike (the S1000R) is a dream (or may not be, but for now is). Thus you see my problem. In India we dont have good roads to enjoy even a pulsar 200.

I want a machine, Street, Track, Faired or naked. Doesnt matter. I want one to enjoy it. No matter what it is. If I had the money, I would have bought the BMW S1000R. But I dont. So I have to compromise. But I want to compromise on something that I can enjoy with. I cant explain. I hope you understand.

CB is the best bike for road riding. FZ is a lot more powerful and goes mad in the higher rev range.

                        Tuono out of your budget.

Triumph's have got great reviews from all press. The daytona, speed and street triple.

Had a streetfighter for 2 years. The LC 1098/1198 engine is perhaps one of the finest motors I have ever used, and I've been on bikes for over 20 years. If you want to use it for commuting or day to day city riding it is the worst, just wants to be ridden fast.

I had a 1100 hypermotard for 2 weeks, it's got the air cooled motor which is on the monster 1100. This was a POS.

Service and support...... What service and support?

Nopes. I mean that I will be more comfortable with a service center in my geography.
