  • ^^Would like to clarify that I have also booked a Ducati, and hence in the know so much about the down and dirty dealings of Ducati India.

I am going to wait for my bike. I can afford to. It will be my third SBK, and am used to the ups and downs of SBK ownership in India. I am not discouraging anyone from their decision to buy Ducati.

I'm just telling it like it is, so that the uninformed can make a better decision.

    Cheers

    Ride Safe.

Dont know about the bike you were buying where they shipping from Italy?
Most of the ducati dealers do not keep fresh bike stock, they recieve usually 1 or 2 consignments a year from Italy.
All of us .... well majority of Ducati owners around the world had to wait for their bikes, its not unusual.
So long story short, if u wanna buy a new ducati.... every again.... u will not get it before april, unless u buy one thats already in stock with the dealers ( an year older model ).
so whats the point of u cancelling ur order?
or is it that u dont trust the dealer.... what are ur options?
Please see the UK and Europe. The SF 848 has been out for a few months now.

This is a load of crap IMO. It's a small group of riders who want to show off by thinking they and their bikes are better than all the others just because they are expensive.

Before anyone bites my head off, I owned a Ducati, paid a lot more than anyone else has just because I loved the bike. I'd buy another one in a flash if the Ducati India situation improved.

          • Did anyone ever get a delivery of a 795 ?

            • Awaiting Delivery

As per the last assurance given by the franchisee deliveries of M795 will only start in Mid August 2012. I have been hearing this since April 2012 so I would not be surprised to see a further delay. Nonetheless I am holding on to my booking as I would have used by bike sparingly in the rainy season anyway. Used to own a Ninja 650 and the Monster is miles ahead in terms of sheer riding pleasure & asthetics. There is no dispute on the fact that customers could be better managed by Shreyan's and Ducati. They cannot afford to bank upon brand image especially with the competition hotting up and more options becoming available. The August delivery date seems fairly solid as I have received an assurance from the Works Manager as well as showroom

                • Seeing how badly people are suffering after booking their Ducatis, I decided to go with the 2012 Ninja.

                  • If actually buying is the criteria I think early or mid next year i will be in the same dilemma as you. otherwise sitting on the pot scanning through the bike magazines, both Indian and International, i have always wondered which bike to buy. The best bike so to speak. And let me tell you, there is none. The Daytona while being good, no wait, awesomely good, is ultimately too stiffly sprung for the Indian Roads. Almost anything is too stiffly sprung for Indian Roads.

Secondly what can you take for a long trip here. And i don't mean to Leh. What if you want to do the awesome Pune- Bangalore road? Or Delhi to Bombay? Or The munnar route? Almost all these bikes have really high compression ratios and you will need speed 93 at least. And even on Delhi Bombay route i rarely found only a few bunks stocking speed.

So, where can you really ride these bikes? Cities. Short jaunts to hills where the roads are good.

If that is the case, then anyone of them is good enough.

If you like to tour, what is putting you away from the Ninja 650R, is that you will like. It is comfy, has the legs. And you can tie in luggage, heck even take a pillion and go where everyone goes, but a bit fast and with a bigger smile.

So, you have by all accounts chosen the right bike, considering your options.

Another thing i want to add about Ducati. I love Ducatis. God knows how many scale models i have bought and gifted to unsuspecting girls and boys. So much so that they see a red bike they think of me and Ducati. Not that i have any big bike so far. But i will not buy a Ducati in India. Till the time they sort this mess of dealers out. It is really pathetic. I mean fine a lot of people who buy Ducati are really rich. Sometimes stinking rich too. So they don't care about the costs of spare and other such issues. But the 795 is not for really rich folks. It is a budget option. And if it is, i want to be sure the servicing and spares will be genuinely priced. No point in buying the bike of your dream and then being scared to take it out. Also if we keep buying the importer will never improve. I mean if bajaj is doing a good job with kawasaki, they should be rewarded.

I don't know whether triumph spares will be cheap, but as far as news go, we know they are taking pains to set up an assembly plant. They might be late on their deadlines but i hope they are being a bit more serious than the shreyan's of the world. Audi Ducati should know that reasonably priced bigger cc bikes do have the market here and the only reason ducati is not doing as well as it could is because of the service network. Hopefully the germans will sort the chink out. Then you can easily sell of the ninja and go for the Streetfighter 848 which is quite probably the best ducati for india.

Or maybe Honda and Suzuki will wake up next year too and bring some good stuff. Till then happy motoring on the bright, honest and funky little quacker.

                      • I have finalized two bike Ninja 650 and daytona 675 and I am not confused between them but i just wanna be sure that I am deciding a bike that best suits me so need all xbhpian's valuable suggestion.

I already own duke and 2004 Pulsar 180 dtsi , This bike would be used solely for Weekend morning rides (100-150 Km ) , No plans of touring on it.

                        Things I feels about Ninja 650 :
                        - It's Cheaper at 5.51 Lac OTR delhi , daytona is expected at 7 to 7.5 but I feel it will touch 8 lac mark.
                        - Ninja is comfortable to ride , i have a stiff back and Ninja 650 would be a good option.
                        - Ninja suspension is soft as compared to daytona and would be easy to ride fast on indian roads, Daytona with it's stiff suspension would surely need a good quality roads to push it hard.

                        My stand on daytona 675.
                        - It's pricier than Ninja 650 but here it's a completely different package.
it's has looks to kill , Roar from it's inline 3 cylinder is out of this world , on top of all it's a sports bike and not a sport tourer.
                        - Daytona would hurt my bike so I have started doing some back exercise to strengthen it , Daytona can be ridden with pleasure on good roads so as I am delhi we have some good roads streches here.

Do you feels I am making a wise decision by opting Daytona , I know i can't go wrong with Ninja it's great bike but Daytona being a sports bike is making me confused.

I am more concerned about understanding cons of owning a Daytona in comparison to Ninja 650 as told earlier bike will not be used for touring.

Buy the Ninja now, get used to it. Think of the Daytona when it comes. As of now, its NOT coming any time soon.
