Noticed this thread now...
@samyakmodi: Congratulations on getting the ducati. You must have got used to hearing this by now!
I personally believe that ducatis have such a styling that is pretty much never going to feel outdated. The biggest reason is their uniqueness in the crowd, a straightforward sharp no-comprimise sportbike styling and lack of unnecessary graphics to enhance the beauty of the design. Recently, I saw a 999 at a fuel station in Delhi and it didn't feel like an old design at all! Hoping that you are having a wonderful time with your motorcycle.

Am a little late but neverthless, congratulations on owning the beauty. It looks stunning in white. You are a perfect example of how perceptions change after really owning some things. Your comparision and adaptation to V-twins was spot on. Wish you many miles of riding pleasure. Hope you update the thread regularly with your ownership experience.
How many kms its clocked now? How has been your post-sales experience with the dealer? How are the spare parts stocked? We in Bangalore are an unhappy lot. Hope things work out better for the brand.Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. And most of them are full of shit.

if looks could kill - this would definitely pass for a mass murderer.Originally posted by NJ7 View PostWhat a bike!! It has got Killer looks!!

now coming straight to the point. i am leaving for singapore tomorrow - can anyone help me with some nice bike stores there which would have the following
1. LOT and i mean LOT of after market parts for ducati at somewhat sensible price.
2. arai and shoei helmet (under one roof - for better comparo) - added advantage would be - good deals as I have been getting regular updates about arai vector 2/chaser V being available for upto 33% less all over.
3. dainese riding gear. if not mistaken they do have a store near my hotel - but then i would want to try out a store which has other brands also - just for being sure that i am not buying something wrong.
need help ASAP guys

What a beautiful bike. No wonder Ducati calls their bikes "Work of Art". I haven't seen a more beautiful set of headlights. Feels like it's looking right through you. Congrats on getting this work of art. On a personal note, how much did it cost you?Strength is measured in pounds.
Speed is measured in seconds.
Courage...
You can't measure courage...

OK - dismiss the chitrangadha singh and rakhi sawant comparos
now after 4 months and 2000 odd kms of riding - i think I am slightly more mature.
earlier it was a boy in his puberty - discovering and confusing everything alike.
so last night over some discussions i just realised that it's totally unfair to compare bikes and these gals.
i mean the charm of a bike never reduces while a gals nagging just increases each day!!!!
so here is what i realised :
a Japanese bike is like Vodka - every one can enjoy it. it doesn't take any efforts to like it - and you can add anything to it to make it a bit different from the others - but sooner or later - one tends to get really bored with it.
an American V-twin - or as we know it as Harley Davidson - is like Jack Daniels - it has a cult of its own, isn't that refined, one needs to be an american to really enjoy it forever and rave about it to anyone who listens - but deep down you know how much it dehydrates you, what bad hangover it gives you, how a slight wrong mix - and you are the laughing stock of town!! potent - but still not as soul touching as you would want it all your life
an Italian on the other side - is like a scotch!! a gazillion years matured scotch!! at first you have no clue whether to like it or spit it out because of the raw flavors in it!! because like everyone else - even you have had it after having vodka OR an occasional JD. you swear inside - what the heck were all these people raving about!! this hurts your throat. has absolutely no taste that you would care to make out - musky/woody/smoked whatever!! this is plain stupid and overhyped!! but then you have it again - just to understand what is it that people like in it - and again you would be disappointed! but then with time and a lot of efforts you actually start understanding what makes it soo special. no vodka - no JD can come close to the small and subtle taste/aroma/flavor this particular scotch gives out. and soon you realise there is absolutely no way you would want to have a vodka or JD as you have finally developed the taste and understanding for a scotch. this - like any scotch - would not just touch but be a part of your soul like nothing else, would make you glow from within, would give you a comfortable warmth inside that would grow with each extra mile ridden - and this my friends IS what an Italian does!!

hehehe sounds like love to me....I am sure its more about personal taste and all bikes out there are good ... at least good enough for me. They are more capable than I am. What I look for in a bike is that it should stir my soul. The talk about HP and top speed just does not do the trick, it has to make me look forward to every ride and give me major grin factor.
So sometime love hurts but then its better to have loved and lost than not have loved at all.
Sam dude, hope it keeps getting better. Enjoy the rides.RX 100

you got it spot on buddy
it is love indeed.
all the bikes are great like you said - and far more capable than what i can squeeze out of them - but then again most of them feel like a machine without a soul.
while this one touches your soul and flirts with it like no one else(atleast the ones i've ridden).
the grin factor is amazing and to be really honest i am glad i wear a helmet all the time while riding - atleast the people wouldn't think there is a mad man on the bike who is grinning for no reason whatsoever!!
and odd as it may sound - but its a major mood enhancing drug!! i mean no matter how tired you are - or how irritated you are - once you start riding, nothing else matters!! is this what is called "zen" ??Last edited by samyakmodi; 02-13-2013, 03:49 PM.
