        No issues on 10w50. The user manual that comes with bike has a chart that shows recommended grade based on ambient temperature. With that w50 works better. Personally using 10w50 full synth castrol from 1st service...no issues.

            I am loving your thread and have been following it for some time. I am planning to upgrade to N650 soon too. I am from Mulund and work in Thane. I am in little dilema after reading your thread. You say that the N650 ground clearance is not that good and hence with pillion its scrapes speed breakers. Now few questions that I have.


            IS there a way to increase the GC
            Is N650 going to get ABS soon and should I wait or go for it right now
            Is it safe to say Versys is better buy than the N650 for touring ? (Though the extra 2 lakhs I am in dilema)

            I would love to meet you some day and take feedback from you in person regarding the bike. I think this is the right time to buy the N650 as you get it for 5.7 On the road mumbai which is mouth watering.

                I think there are at least two N650 ownership threads. And i recollect reading up about a solution to this low GC issue. Some platinum plate may be. I think it was 'Chinmayakar' who got it rectified.

                The clearing of old stock might hint towards a newer model but nothing concrete so far. Adding ABS will also attract a price hike.

                I'm glad you asked it here(Versys vs N650).
                Myself very interested in the comparison even though Versys is too tall for my 5'6'' frame.
                Versys definitely takes upper hand when it comes to suspension. Owners state that it glides over bad roads(air cushion) maintaining 80-100 kph easily.
                I personally haven't ridden it yet.

                  Last Friday went on a bike trip to Coorg. While going the bike behaved very well. It had rained heavily in Coorg at night. In the morning when I started the bike, its started fine however after sometime i got some burining smell. So switched off the engine. After sometime the bike would start and then engine would die on its own as the rev would lower down. Hence started the bike and revved for a while and started riding. After sometime the engine warning light came on.
                  As of now the bike is running however the engine warning light glows as soon as i start the bike.
                  Is there any way I can diagnose stuff without going to the service center?

                    Keep idling engine Nd see if fan is running. Burning smell could be burnt engine fan unfortunately... or culd be burnt relay....or at best mud burning on engine ☺

                    Ninja gc can be increased by uaing aftermarket exhaust

                      Can you post a link here as would like to sort scrapping the surface?

                      I am 5'6" N650R is super comfortable on this height however heavy, moving it from standstill backward or forward is herculean task even when off the bike, while sitting over it at least I can't do that. Does it have to be so heavy? Why they could not make it 30 or 40 KG lighter..it would have been even more sweet deal?

                        The fan is fine and only kicks in if engine is heating up in stop and go traffic.

                          Weight of the bike is an issue... What to say - build up your upper body strength.
                          The Er6n would have been lighter or you can carry out weight reduction mods but it will also lighten your bank balance.

                            I was in the same situation when I got the bike. Initially I was barely able to move it from standstill when sitting. I am 5'7" and weigh 80 kgs
                            Since I had spent so much money on the bike, the only option left was to bring my body to that level.
                            Got myself a mini gym kit (weights and stuff nothing fancy) and after a month I do fare a bit better when compared to the initial state.
                            Atleast I thank her for forcing me to work out to handle her better.

                              ha ha...same here...though I am not 80KG...no offense....but a lean frame...hence workout started to level my tummy..(don't like my riding jacket bulging out )...but along with brought back a routine of push up and sit up to bring back muscle strength in my arms and legs back in....hell job took half my life away with only workout being done was of mind on spreadsheet and body neglected....Ninja came in life perhaps to make me a ninja fighter (I would be happy to just look like rider though)
