Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True

Finally got my bike. Damn ive never been this thrilled, excited, nervous, intimidated all at once. Confused if I should pull up a chair and just admire her or mount her, ride her all night long. Had goosebumps and a big grin across my face for all the 20 min ride home. Though its a pleasant eve have been sweating with nervousness ever since I got to the showroom. I am in love.Click image for larger version

Thank you buddy sure its an addiction, was riding till late last night and now too can barely concentrate on my work, guess would leave early

No I havent been able to order an AGV yet with a simple reason of confusion in size. Do have a work related trip to Bangalore in a couple of weeks, if i dont get to try out an AGV before that ill buy it then.

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True

                Update:

                Kilometers Done: 721
                Fuel Consumed: Approx. 32 liters
                Fuel Efficiency: Approx. 22 KM/Lit

Running in has definitely resulted in a smoother gearbox. Bike heats up from 93 to 100 pretty quickly in peak traffic. Advisable to run in early morning. Tyres are good and offer good grip. Found out that the rear pre-load needs to be increased. The Z800 is like a tank and can run over road irregularities without affecting anything.

Additions: Apart from the Puig Windscreen, I added Puig Crash Bars.
                Total Accessory Cost: 7.5K Windscreen + 9.5K Crash Bars = 17K.
Accessories planned: Radiator guard and swingarm spools.

Windscreen effectiveness: The windscreen added is a Puig new generation windscreen. Smallish but effective in reducing the airflow near the helmet. I experienced lesser air around the helmet. Obviously all this observation is at running in speed and airflow post 100-120 kmph would be a true indicator on windscreen effectiveness. However, I like the windscreen as it leads to a better look.

                  hI EVERYONE,

Been sometime since I shared my experiences livin with the bike... had an opp to head out fr a longish ride over the weekend n would like to share some first hand experience while the bike was ridden for a distance ~ 350 kms.

Will jump over to the points I wanted to share in here and will surely like to hear from other owners. These are solely my personal feel and impressions.

Total Mileage done : 1550 kms

                  1) The bikes as been quoted a lot of times has ample power to pull itself to great cruising speeds (100 kmph + @4250 - 4250rpm). Higher the revs, sweeter and more noticeable the note becomes, which is an absolute attention grabber. ( Which I absolutely loved all the way
                  )

                  2) The suspension is quite stiff and does not suit touring on the roads conditions that we find which are anything other than silky smooth NHs. The stock suspension settings needs to be tweaked for more comfort(personal impression). Since we rode over quite distinct road types conditions throughout this trip, the stiff suspension really makes you incomfy and tires you up and ask for breaks after a while.

                  3) Bike has got amazing lean capability. I have never felt so much at home while hitting corners with awesome entering and exiting control. I am not a cornering junkie but this is the second bike (after N250) I have ridden till date that gave me an instant confidence to try out a few things. Even though its on a heavier side, the bikes quite agile to ones needs. (** All leaning and cornering were performed as per skill. Any Stoner s or Rossi s were not kept in mind while I m sharing my leaning credentials
... this would be much more fun for the experts.)

I still feel that the bike really makes one tired if we are not hitting the best patches on the road. May be tweaking the suspension does the trick.
This is my impression for the kind of riding I have been doing of-late. These could be helpful to some here.

Over all, the bike is super awesome with all fun n excitement it has to offer.
                  More to come soon.

                  cheers..

what is your take on wind blast at highway speeds? What speed you suggest will define " comfortable cruising speed" on this bike (considering wind blast , not power)?

Cruising around 95 - 105 kmph when there is moderate breeze blowing is fine per me. If its windy, the wind blast becomes significantly much more. I do not have a fly screen yet so this fig may vary with n with out a screen.

Sure...The fact is that I've been busy riding the bike and don't really feel like getting off it. If there was any way that I could carry it with me to bed, I would have done it
