Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Buddy, Just a question on the fuel used. Are you feeding him with 97 Octane or Regular petrol ? Just a curiosity, since I spoke to the showroom sales person, he says its not recommended, but can be used as an alternative incase if we don't find 97 octane.Originally posted by GT007 View PostR15S - Current

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Fuel requirement for Z800 is 95+ RON. I have used shell regular (91 RON), Shell super (91+RON with Additives) and Speed 97. I find bike runs smooth with Shell Super. Surprising but that's what i have observed. My Z800 has covered 850KM and now i am feeding her Shell super.Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostBuddy, Just a question on the fuel used. Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Thanks a lot djay99. I had this huge doubt, since 97 Octane is very rarely available and its difficult to carry whilst going on a tour. Wondering if the machine will support 91 Octane or will it ruin the engine life....but you made it clear...so its gonna be Shell super then...Originally posted by djay99 View PostFuel requirement for Z800 is 95+ RON. Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
You're welcome. Also note that there was no knocking or pinging when riding bike with 91 RON fuel in tight bangalore traffic (when engine temp was over 100 Degree). Low end torque is abundant and i never stalled bike even once. I guess you can pull nicely even in second gear from standstill without slipping clutch. Engine-gear box combo is fantastic. But top gear is pretty useless as it does not bring down RPM for comfortable cruising at say 100 to 120KMPH.Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostThanks a lot @djay99. Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
I am not sure if some one faced heating issues on their Z800. I ride my Z800 in Bangalore city traffic (one of the worst b2b traffic in world), engine temp will be between 98 to 102 and i don't have any issues riding. Hot air is pumped away from riders legs by the radiator fan. I also rode ST in bangalore city traffic & i did not face heating issues there as well. You will feel some heat but its never uncomfortable like other suberbikes.Originally posted by drsureshmohan View Postfriends , has the heating factor reduced after the running in period in city traffic or does it persist. i rode the street triple in stop go traffic ( a bike that had done 5000 km) and there is absolutely no heating. Thanks in advance

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Thanks a million, ive been reading every word of this thread .My Z800 is in the showroom, will register this week and have it delivered on Diwali i think. I rode my friend s Z800 with an aftermarket exhaust and got sold over the ST.I had a year ago the FZ1 which used to heat my legs a lot. Being a doctor i would say the quickest way to male infertility was recommend a litre bike -) with exception of the CB 1000 r. The one other thing i would like to discuss is the RON 95 requirement. I also spoke to Kawasaki team members , whenever possible tank up with 97 or go for speed which is RON 93 is what they had to say.Since im in chennai i can get (not all the time ) speed 97Last edited by drsureshmohan; 10-12-2014, 06:31 PM.

You're welcome doc. Congrats for your Z800. BTW which colour did you opt.Originally posted by drsureshmohan View PostThanks a million, ive been reading every word of this thread .My Z800 is in the showroom, will register this week and have it delivered on Diwali i think. I am using Shell super (91 RON with additives) and i have not faced any knocking issues. I tried Speed 97 but did not notice any major difference.
Got first service done yesterday and planning to tank her up with speed 97 next time to see difference post 1st service.
BP has stopped selling 93 octane fuel IMO. I am not sure if they have started selling again.
How do you find Z800 when compared to FZ1? Also why did you not choose ST. All the best and ride safe.

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
The FZI s power band comes comes on much later than Kawasaki, FZ1 heat on your thighs can actually feel very hot inside town riding, to put it simply the Kawa behaves more like a de tuned cb 1000 r and hence much more manageable; the low end torque appeals to me a lot. The only downside i felt was while making a u turn which i will have to learn by practice in a parking lot ;I chose the black colour bike.My speeding habits have died down a lot,though i briefly touched 243km in the FZ1. I might buy a set of handle bar risers ( they are awesome on the FZ1 and feels like a tourer) Now why i chose the Kawa over the ST is that is i wanted an inline four, the whistling sound of the triple and bug head lights are something i could not get over and put my money on some thing i cant accept. I took the ST for a 80 km ride with my daughter and was not very impressed though it has a comfortable pillion seat. I must admit that the people at triumph in chennai are an incomparable lot , the best in the business.They also gave me a daytona for two days and my neck hurt a lot after one hour but it does 140 ish in first gear ! and thanks for your wishes! Im 55 and i thought this is a good buy for a guy my age who is quite fitLast edited by drsureshmohan; 10-13-2014, 12:37 AM.

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Hi,
Firstly congrats on the bike
Can you please confirm the mileage
City = ??
highway = ??
I am looking for a bike, currently cannot decide between street triple and Z800.
As i read through the threads, i have similar concerns Kawasaki does not provide test drive where as I had driven the street triple.

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
From whatever I have heard from Z users, City avg is 19-20kmpl..and Highway - 23-24 kmpl. This is from a friend of mine who drives in Pune,Originally posted by ifthi View PostHi,

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
That quote is a little high from my personal experience. I get around 16 in the city and 21 on the highway. This is with riding at a constant 100-110 and a few short blasts upto 150.Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostFrom whatever I have heard from Z users, City avg is 19-20kmpl..and Highway - 23-24 kmpl. Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
My friend doesn't go that speed inside city as roads are not free. He drives at 75-80 kmph at 6th gear...and occasional blast upto 120...he uses Speed from BP bunk. I guess that 91 RON + Additives.Originally posted by Hyperion View PostThat quote is a little high from my personal experience. I get around 16 in the city and 21 on the highway. The speed I quoted was for highway. In the city I rarely get a chance to go beyond 75.Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostMy friend doesn't go that speed inside city as roads are not free. Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Ifthi you have to decide for yourself. If looks ,presence, in line four are your criteria then go for Kawa. If you dont mind the bug head lamps(it either u love it or hate it) and the irritating triple s whine but awesome rideability thats nimble in the city for for ST. Ok the people at Triumph Chennai are nothing short of spectacular , they let me ride each bike for two full weekends and they would give any number of times for a test ride , but luckily for me my friend gave a spin on the Kawa with after market exhaust and i was sold completely , but look i would ride less than 100 km a week max and occasional ride out of town not exceeding 100 km distance. If your criteria is like mine go for Kawasaki but if u will be extensively using in town , you must consider the ST seriously .(but u must get to like the bug head lamp and the sound). Ok Mileage my friend rides hard in around town and gets 16 kmpl
