As far as I know the deliveries also start around the same time as the test rides ..i.e in July..
have to wait till then, but just the news of seeing it next week has got me excited ,,ha ha

At 16,24,094 it's less than 2 lakhs costlier than the 675R. I see this definitely affecting the Triumph Daytona sales.

Correct me if I am wrong here, but i think even the 899 Panigale was more than 17 lakhs on road. May be some one who got the 899 panigale can shed some light on this.

Its high time Dayatona start doing something about their pricing (which we think is highly priced than being competitive). On the other hand ducati's pricing seems very competitive but again is the launch offer or not, we will know only from time. Also IMO Triumph has suffered a setback after the de-tuned fiasco and stalling issues on their bikes and more importantly the way they are handling all these in secrecy. Hopefully Triumph re-brands itself from this and gets us at right value and price
If someone from Kawasaki is listening to this, pls get us ZX6r asap

The 899 was 15.89 lakhs on road Bangalore but was on sale for only a couple of months officially through the new showroom. Globally too the 959 is almost the same price as the 899 because it's being treated as a regulatory compliance upgrade and not a voluntary Ducati new model (Euro IV Jazz)

Well said. The reason Ducati is able to price competitively is because of their plant located in Thailand and the Free Trade Agreement between India and Thailand. Triumph however has to bear the full custom duty when they bring in their motorcycles. Unless Triumph decides to set up an assembly line here, it will slowly lose its market share to Ducati and the MV F3.

Finally the 959 reached Bangalore. Just a heads up, this is only a display model and the delivery vehicles and test ride vehicles will only be available from July/August. But, this was the first time I saw the bike in person, ever since its launch at the India Bike Week.

As far as first impressions go, I was convinced to go for 959 Panigale over the Daytona 675R the minute I saw it at the Bike Week. Today was a whole different sort of emotion, since it was the first time I was seeing the motorcycle in person after having booked it. The 959 is absolutely stunning in Ducati Red. The paint job is fantastic and the quality of the finish was spectacular.

The 959's nose and front has been modified slightly and it now borrows heavily from the bigger 1299. It is definitely wider than the 899 and Ducati believes this will aid in the aerodynamic capabilities of this machine.



The 959 retains the full digital dash present on the 899 and the bigger Panigale. It comes with the same 3 ride modes - Wet Sport and Race with Wet Mode reducing power output from 157BHP to 100BHP. The 959 also comes with 8 mode traction control, EBC, DES, ABS etc. The 959 now comes with a quick-shifter (up) borrowing from the 1299. The 1299 however also has a quickshifter (down) option.



Coming to what many consider the only black mark on the 959 - the side slung cannon (Ducati India calls them the Shot Gun) exhausts. In my opinion these look really good in person. Naturally not as good as the underbelly but for an additional 3,00,000 INR you can have the entire underbelly exhaust system installed. VST Ducati Bangalore is currently awaiting clearance on whether the underbelly system would be road legal in India (considering we do not comply with Euro IV level norms yet). The Akro Titanium exhausts which are also side slung double mounts will be available and will be road legal however. The stock exhausts however look fantastic and in my opinion at present I see no reason to shift out of it.



The pillion seat looked slightly wider than the one on the 899. This may be because Ducati has reworked the tail of the 899 as well and therefore we have a more beautiful streamlined end. Quite stunning ain't it?



The bike will retail at 16,24,000 INR on-road Bangalore and even Ducati Bangalore has been surprised with the pricing of the motorcycle. At this price range it fits in beautifully to counter the sales of the Daytona 675R which retails at about 14,70,000 INR on-road Bangalore. Honestly, 1,50,000 INR between a 959 Panigale and a 675R seems exceptional pricing from Ducati. What it also does is counter off any pressure that may have come from the MV Agusta F3. Globally the baby Panigale and the baby MV compete head to head. In India the MV F3 has been priced at 16,50,000 ex-showroom Pune which is 2,00,000 heavier than the 959.



Lastly, test rides for the vehicle will be available only in July-end/August, which is near to the time of delivery of the vehicle. VST Ducati Bangalore is also unable to place an exact time frame on when the deliveries could commence but it is going to be nearer to August rather than early July.

The long wait for delivery now continues...
