The long wait for delivery now continues...
well explained dude. I can only drool and imagine how a black version of this baby ducati (I hope Ducati does this and gets here) might look like with those DRL's on. Damn that's a sight to see.

fyi - Think about changing seat covers to a plusher ride.

Re: The Italian Dream: A Ducati Story

Most of the things and points about the 959 are already put in this thread, but I thought i will put my doubts about my encounter with the 959 which happened this Saturday ...

I had a big test ride with the Daytona 675r, thanks to Keerthi motors, Bangalore...I was immediately about to relate the 675r vs the 959 though I didn't test ride the 959 yet.
Test rides might start end of July or may be late,,

You could buy the 675r just for the way it screams,,god that exhaust is heavenly,,and those brembos inspire so much confidence..just one finger on the front brakes and its rock stable from triple digit speeds to 0 km/hr in no time..

The 959 is a absolute beauty,,,looks bigger and better than the 899..the cannon shot exhausts do look good in person..But one can opt for the Termi full system for 4 lakhs :P :P
The seating position is much better than the Daytona 675r and is relaxed, not putting too much weight on your wrists...
Hopefully the test rides begin sooner,,,

Bangalore taxes if I'm correct are currently 12% for motorcycles costing above 50,000 plus couple of cess charges and insurance cost.
          Hello,

Congratulations for your new Ducati - I have a suggestion that you should give a try in terms of financial options. Do you have an existing home loan? Do you plan any improvements for your home? If you do, I suggest talk to the bank from which you got home loan. Ask them for home improvement loan. But, add a large amount on top of what you really need (E.g. you may be looking for actual furniture or something worth 2 lakhs - instead go and ask for loan of 10-15 lakhs - I think max loan amount is up to 50-60% of original home loan amount. If you had taken any previous loan worth 40 lakhs then may be you can cover entire amount of Ducati except the booking amount using this loan!)

This way interest will work out to be about 9.5-9.6 % and that too reducing balance not flat rate. If you have not fully exhausted your income tax exemption of Rs 2 lakh in terms of housing interest, then you have some possibility of tax saving also.

Obviously, don't announce all this to your bank my friend - you just ask for a loan and they will chase you to take it (credit off take is not too good )
There are quite a few people who have done it. Not all super bike owners are super rich people man! We are just normal people but have high aspiration about bikes..I will still drink my cutting chai at a road side tapri and haggle with fruit vendor to get Rs 20 off - but the ride is a super bike and riding gear is all as classy as possible

            Thanks Jeevan!

I had a look at your suggestion. Unfortunately, there's no other way to look at this but as fraud. All loan agreements have a clause preventing diversion of funds particularly for activities which have a loan interest rate higher than the one chosen. The penalties are severe and not worth the risk.

I understand from you that a lot of people have done what you've suggested. I further agree completely that not everyone is rich and we aspire to ride these motorcycles and that's precisely why we have a multitude of Finance schemes. But, I don't believe we should put ourselves down to cheating the system and the bankers in our quest for this.

I'd much rather pay the 3%-3.5% extra and safely take the HDFC/YES Bank Superbike loan

Deliveries in India have been pushed to August now. Possibly even mid-August.

It's not fraud Adoksh. The top up loan you get over a home loan is a personal loan and it's up to you how you decide to use a personal loan.
People usually don't get a personal loan to purchase automobiles is because of higher interest rate. But in this case it actually is more convenient.

The way loan agreements work is there is a clause which stipulates the purpose for use of amount. Deviation from such clause is a violation of the agreement and could result in imprisonment and payment of damages which could be X times the value of fraud. So, it's very difficult to say this isn't fraud. It's ingenious, no doubt. And the risk is minimal cause no one will ever know. But that doesn't make it any less a wrong on our banking system does it?

if not, you can consider a loan against property. basically any existing mortgagaeble real estate that you currently own and isn t on outstanding loan.

correct but not applicable to personal loan. ( LAP is a form of personal loan) no such clause on personal loan. you mortgage your property , get a loan and start fielding the emis. you can use that amout in casino or in bangkok no questions asked. this is just for personal loans and according to the fine print, loan against property is a personal loan. its similar in case of home loan top ups BUT you dont get income tax rebate on top up amount.
all these things have become pertinent nowadays because after a long time, automobile loan intt rates are higher than home loans. they usually were even cheaper than home loans until recently. secomdly , personal loan is definitely more expensive than either but i guess sbi is currently offering LAP at slightly above hoome loan rate read less then 10% as a part of some scheme.
currently , going for this option means you aren t exactly on wrong side of law. if the auto loan is 2 3 % higher , and the tenure is also max7 yrs, this is definitely lucrative option for prospective sbk owners imho.
