The angle of the swing arm relative to the ground doesn't make any difference. The effect will always be there, albeit a little lesser in magnitude for swing-arms that are more towards the horizontal.Originally posted by tallkien View PostVery interesting, although it doesn't quite explain the same phenomenon observed on bikes with completely horizontal swingarms
The reason: The point of application of the force is at the tyre contact patch (this force is a reaction from the road to the 'push' from the tyre as it starts to rotate) and not the axle center of the rear wheel. And the contact patch invariably is lower than the swing-arm pivot point on the frame. So there's always a 'lever arm' for the vertical component to act through.

Yup....Ben Spies reminds me of the Kimi Raikonen of MotoGP.

Whoa! Where? Should have demanded compensation! I have been a victim to them, but if you stand your ground, they do pay up! Unless its your mistake (in which case, the situation will be made as serious as a murder crime).Originally posted by fireblah View PostR1's number plate was broken by an auto rickshaw from behind !
those bunch of idiots zip around whole of Kolkata hitting people and vehicles and you cant do shit to them (excuse my language) as they gang up and beat you up
