it brakes by wire after its triggered. Not untill then...untill then YOU are braking. Once triggered the ECU is braking yeah !

Besides, Abs allows you to turn the bike while you're full on the brakes. And most important: even these excellent riders make mistakes.

Experts hone their braking skill for years together and yet cannot match the speed with which C-ABS can brake. Squids and noobs from yesterday come and start outbraking intermediate riders and are close to experts in braking. So people are bound to dislike it. But the fact remains that the C-ABS has no downfalls whatsoever other than its weight gain. It can also be used for racing at the track just the way u can use a non C-ABS bike. If u wont be triggering it on the racetrack why will it come in your way of riding at the track.

You also WANT the C-ABS to do stoppies/wheelies etc
makes it less likely to lock and wash out the front.

actually, you would be hard pressed to find a situation where you didnt want the ABS.... but if you ever manage to find one, then just pull the fuse.
Slipper clutches are not joker cards. You cant just downshift at mad rpms or do two downshifts and expect no wheel hopping. I had my wheel hop when I downshifted hard on the Blade. It has a slipper clutch. They dont eliminate the need to blip the throttle completely. They just make you less busy as a rider as you can focus on corner entry speed and nail it faster and safer. They forgive erroneous downshifts which otherwise would highside you so high you could headbutt a space shuttle.
Motorcycles are dangerous...they ought to be made safer in whichever way possible while making sure that the speeds go on increasing and the laptimes go on decreasing.
I dont like traction control though...the idea of traction control is to make the rider safer...but good throttle control and throttle input is the key to racing or even street motorcycling and it is that quitessential 'skill' part of motorcycling. When you start wearing the eraser ahead of your pencil tip you are overdoing it.

The last time I push started the bike, ABS did not turn on... The ABS light kept flashing... and I was flipping the whole time.
@renny: its a bit more complicated than that.. its electronically controlled...

renny is talking about an activa not blade :P

I remember that happening to me too yeah..ABS needs battery power to work. I push started cause I had no juice left in the battery so ABS wasnt working. Then ripped the bike hard for about 10 mins to charge the battery. Stopped the bike...thumbed the starter..bike started..ABS started.

Just for the info sake:

Will the C-ABS aid in rolling stoppies,cuz it wont lock the front irrespective of the pressure applied?

And in case of trail braking, if the rear steps out of the line,will the system distribute the pressure in front? Or the C-ABS just wont let the rear step out even in case of "hard" trail braking?

I dont thing C-ABS will distribute according to any 'trail effect'. It does distribute the braking force, that too not too much.
I did a google on trail braking, it seems its more about gradual braking release as you enter a turn.. thus a 'trail', so dunno what you mean here.

Ya i meant braking just before diving into the corner, and braking while still into a "lean"...at that point the contact patch of the tire wont be that much as it's on the straight.

The C-ABS works on either of the end right?
i mean pressing the rear will also activate the front, and vice versa, while distributing the pressure according to the contact patch of the tire?

So if the system senses that the rear is stepping out of the line in lean (when brake'd) will it release the pressure in nick of time, and apply the released pressure to the front, or will it alltogether cancel it, (like no braking at the both ends even if the driver is applying brakes) if it senses that applying the "taken" pressure from the rear to the front will make it(front) loose the line?

While trail braking, you are on front, the rear is aided by down-shifts.(this is what I do & I dunno if it can be termed as 'trail'), braking to almost the mid of the corner, getting back on when I have exited, while whacking the throttle open(Courtesy- Indian Motorcycles & its dismal power)

I dunno how a C-ABS will function in this event, but it would aid safety is what i can think of. Yes it is that brilliant

Actually I did mean baggage. I have a sealed battery for my 954 as spare just incase it fits in the battery bay of your fireblade. I had called for one suspecting battery issues a few months back, but funnily enough its been working fine ever since.

if the system senses the rear is gonna lock itself it will distribute the excess braking to the front. Your line will NOT change because of this brakin force distribution. Your front may dip a little depending on how much braking input you got and you will take some getting used to thhttp://www.cycleworld.com/motorcycle_news/industry_news_articles/archive/braking_new_groundat but thats about it.The system is least bothered with your lean angle though...so you cant slam the brakes in lean like u can when upright...if u slam the brakes in lean although the wheels wont lock, the tyres WILL run out of traction points to hold you onto the tarmac. So you shall fall without having to lock a wheel to fall.

but then not slamming the brakes when in lean is common sense. No bike or technology can prevent a washout which occurs due to the tyre running out of available traction brownies !

Don Canet of cycle world magazine had this to say about trail braking on C-ABS
"I found the smooth nature of the CBR's ABS and its combined brake effect allow fairly aggressive rear-pedal application mid-corner without unsettling the chassis. I used this technique in a series of left-hand bends at HPCC and was able to confidently check my speed and tighten my line. Another experiment I conducted was trail-braking deep into corners, easing off the front lever while remaining on the pedal down to the corner apex."
"My conclusion? Years spent developing feel and finesse through my right fingers and foot have been rendered obsolete by this system. Grabbing a handful of brake or standing on the pedal results in nothing less than strong, controlled braking action"

And some think I am wrong in switching R1's battery in blade.
On a serious note though, whenever I apply only rear brakes, it hardly does anything, only on hard application, maybe it does, whereas R1's rear wheel happily locks up in even slight rear brake...
