Fireblade has done almost 11000 Kms . I dont use it for touring at all. Just day rides, max like 3-4 hrs ride to highways. Max I have done in a day is around 310 Kms.

Octane 97 is no longer available in Kolkata. BP did tell me that they will resume the service, but when no idea. I use extra premium (indian oil), I have a psychological feeling that its better than power and speed. Hey I save around 7 rupees per litre ! :P

so ur having no problems using this ? i mean no knocking ?

yes, knocking in lower RPMs...

On Sunday I stopped at a traffic light and switched off the bike, but on green signal, blade refused to start.. battery down... Strange thing was that after starting from home (where there was no trouble starting), I had stopped twice and no problem, so why no starting after atleast 20 mins of riding ? I can think of only one explanation, radiator fans. They turned on in the slow traffic heat, (i never keep the ignition on just for the fans with engine off).. so are fans enough to drain the battery with engine on ?
Anyway, bike refused to start, but luckily Sayan (xbhp member) saw me just randomly and called Diba da (our Busa friend) and blade was given a power donation by the busa battery..(jump start)
Now my concern is battery, even though I know charging it will fix this thing, but sooner or later I will have to buy a new one. Car/bike batteries come under dangerous items, and so not allowed on planes, so how to import it ??? Honda has got em, for 30k only...
Isn't this battery available with any Indian brand ? what are the alternatives ?

I think Extra Premium IS better than Speed or Power. Speed and Power seem to have too much propoganda going in for them without any substance at all.
shell super however is 91 octane. No knocking at low revs...Its the best fuel you can tank up with IMHO. Octane 97 is not requiered nor recommended by Honda. Manual says 91.

this exact same thing has happened to me when I was waiting on a few red lights to turn green and was switching the bike off intermittently at red lights.
20 mins ride and came back to the bike onley to have a drained out battery. Your twin fans are good enough to drain the battery. Leave the bike on even on red signals even if the temperatures go soaring.
Speaking of temperatures ...what temp does your blade saturate at when left all by itself on a red light. The max I have clocked is 108 degrees celcius !

Edit: no need to jump start your batterie ! Push the bike to anything above 10 to 15 kmph with your legs and shift into second gear. DO NOT SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR !
The bike will start. Ride it hard after that and the batterie will be recharged !

do you know your battery spec? how many amps it is?i think it is 9 amp/hour.the ninja 250 uses a 12 amp battery as well as the bullets with self starts,the max is that in avl in india afaik.

also ,i am not sure but your low rpm knocking can be due to a faulty battery also,because these bikes uses a permanent magnet charging system which produces apms a bit low in low rpm which is compensated afterwords when you rev up.also these bike use the power from battery to power up the cdi/tci mpfi controller from the battery so if the battery is faulty the probs are there,
i may be wrong,please check up properly.

Shell Super is 94 Octane. My bike loves this fuel. They call it 91+ due to some regulatory obligations. [source: Shell Official]

The '07 manual recommends 97 Octane. Will double check

I have seen 110 deg.C. on my bike. The second fan kicks in at 108.

Now jump starting your SBK is not something that you would want to do in the middle of the road when already you are a centre of attraction. God save me from this. I think I will atleast start her up everyday.

@Fireblah: Amaron sells a VRLA battery which is dimensionally very close to the Yuasa YZ10S battery to the battery of my R1 and the '10 Blade. I think it's a 9 Ah battery, which should do just fine.

As for the battery going flat, my R1's battery has been totally drained at least 10 times in these last 2.5 years. Thrice due to me not running the bike, and remaining due to innumerable compression tests on the engine. Only once due to the fans running continuously in the intense summer heat while I was on a 1800 km ride

The battery still holds charge after all these days, and misuse.

Still I remember....i had to call one mechanic......man that side screw was horrible.......did you changed that screw????
Lastly Diba da[busa friend] came......and he's the man....who helped you out.

30K...holy Effin crap. The Yuasa sells for about 135 $ here in the US. 30K is almost 6 times the cost. Honda is screwing its premium customers.

the battery on my R6 died with about 16 months of regular use. And for about a week, i would push start it just like the way Tenhut mentioned.

@Tenhut ..... hey man, whats the reason behind not doing the push start with changing into 1st gear? Could you throw some light on that ?
It worked fine for me.
