No. Comet has one of the better set of shocks than most other indian bikes on road today. Who propogates such theories is beyond me.

sorry for such a late reply. tyres are good to look at & brilliant in handling. did a dwarka - manesar up down for checking road grip it was brilliant better than shinkos. haven't done any off roading . cornering is also good. off roading is not for me guys. neither do i get much time to ride my bike.

Hi..has anyone on the forum checked valve clearances and made adjustments? The service interval says check every 4000 kms, but i would like to know if any of the members have had experience on valve maintenance and the likely interval when you would need to get it serious attention. My bike has done 12K kms and is probably due for a valve check. Further, any reliable mechanic in bangalore? I am doing most of the maintenance of the basic maintenance myself such as brake pad replacement, oil change, etc but would probably appreciate some expert help. Cheers..Amar

I want to get mine done too, its been 35K Kms. but you need shims to reset the valve clearance, Shims are not available (No surprise !!) & you do not know the height of the shims needed until you open up the valves & find the extent of clearance resetting needed.

You can get to Dr Irshad at 9886796809. His Garage is en route down Hotel Harsha Circle Near shivaji nagar bust stop, down the (elgin?) theater, before you cross the big gutter bridge take a right. He is good but difficult to get appointment & Very expensive (like 3.5K Average that's why I call him Dr) + have to put up with late working hours & smoking while u r their & he works on your bike.

My Office is very close to this place, give me a buzz if you plan to visit him (my cell: 98458-44875)

                          Cheers

I spoke to him about the shimming the values last week, he said - "To do that I need to remove the engine and then work on it for a week.". A weeks time from him is HARD to get

EDIT: hope I didnt confuse you ppl, Checking the valve clearance he does every alternate service.

You could also try Harsha @ 080-26766178
His garage is near Basavangudi. He works on my Aquila and GD76's Comet
Pretty good. Although he too might want you to get all the required spares before he does anything on your bike.
