Its pre-mix... no scope of service history, kept idle for quite some time and hardly used. the person from whom I took is from Madbulls, he has a quite a lot of collection, just flicked one from him after convincing for long. he has a RD350 / RE535 / RE350 / JAWA 350 / Roadking and this is what I know, but not sure if he has many more kept

Correct. Both my RXs running on the same oil pump they came with & its been 12 & 9 Yrs respectively. RX was & is the most reliable bike ever to be manufactured in India, provided regular maintenance chart is followed.

But it is always worth to keep a track if the pump is working or not. Its a simple check nothing complicated.

Ramesh, on the RHS of Carburettor (Crank Kicker side) we have the inlet for the 2-T oil flow. For an RX100 with original Mikuni Carburettor there is a number written "36L 00" & this is where the 2-T oil pipe is connected. After locating the pipe follow the below procedure:
                1. Start the Engine with some Idling & rev the engine once or twice.
                2. Disconnect the 2-T Oil pipe from the carburettor & at the same time continue revving the engine.
                3. Hold the pipe in your fingers & rev the engine more & more, until you see the 2-T oil flowing out of the pipe & overflowing. This is when you come to know that the oil pump is working correctly.
                4. If for some reason, even after revving for more than 30secs or so & you don't find the 2-T oil coming out, then there could be 2 possibilities: Firstly, there is no oil left at all & Secondly, the pump has failed.
Note 1: The oil flow is directly proportional to the Engine RPM, i.e the higher you rev the engine, the more is the 2-T oil flow. Its a typical centrifugal type of pump which we have it in our houses also for pumping water, the only difference being, generally in houses the pump normally runs at fixed speed, but here it is on variable speed depending on throttle position.

Note 2: Apart from the above check also make sure that the 2-T oil inside the tank doesn't get empty. This can be ensured by mere visual inspection & also if in doubt bend the bike towards yourself or against to check if there is any oil at all !! If for some reason the oil has become fully empty, then just by refilling with new oil will not do the job, when the oil gets completely empty there is a vacuum created inside the pump & the fresh oil is not able to flow anymore. This requires an expert to work on the pump a bit, i.e to remove the screw in the pump so that oil starts oozing out & that is when we can be sure that the path for oil is not blocked by any vacuum or dust particles.

                Hope this helps.

May be my bad luck...The bike I bought in 1987 March had hard running(rough) and in 800 Kms bore seized.I got replacement of the oil pump and bore piston kit under warranty. On the track also with slight mods to engine and expansion chambers the pump could not be calibrated for higher RPMs.Finally we ran the RX with pre-mix only.Since I had faced some problems I had warned Ramesh...and the bike he had bought is running on Pre-mix.

Did you know that the RX100 have no CDI spark advance circuit and static at 22 deg BTDC.

Thanks Karthik...that was hell a lot of information, had been out of town today, will check first thing in the mng.

@PSR - Sir am not sure, when the guy handed over the key to me he asked to mix oil in the tank, hence thought its pre mix, will check tmrw on what Karthik had said and revert

@ Karthik - Its working....the issue was the oil pump was dry...tried my hand on removing the screw and let the oil flow down then have fixed it back. Post this tested the first step too by holding the carb pipe and reving the engine, oil has started flowing in.

                      Thanks for your help

Have attached the snaps of my bike, sorry for the poor quality as I had clicked from my mobile
