      thanks for posting the pics rookieraj .clean up the crank cases with kerosine and a toothbrush ,also there is a small part called kicker pawl its a small square metal piece with a cylindrical projection on one side also there is another small cylindrical piece with a spring attached to its bottom do not lose them as they are pretty hard to find even though they cost under 50 rs check them for wear and replace if necessary also what brand of bearings are you using

            i'm too raw to assess the condition of the conrod. i'll be taking it to a workshop. the lateral play is about 1 mm which exceeds the .6mm service limit. i guess it will be difficult to get a new crankshaft assembly so i'll try to get it repaired.

                  Yes very important...and while assembling the gears remember to put the ball at the end of shaft..and make sure it does not slip and fall while assembling

                  Your piston shows strong compression leaks, which means the rings or the bore or both are worn....you may have to source both...

                    Mahle is the best...but if you plan to use the old one..you will have compression leak and hence poor performance.

                      Anna, will that happen even if I use new rings? could you help me out with the bore x stroke specs of the kb125?

                      another thing - how did you pull the crankshaft into place while reassembling. the service manual says to use an arbor press.

                        just use a new piston they are easily available and doesnt cost much as for fixing the crank ,take it to a machine shop and get it done also buy and keep a tube of threebond paste you will need it to stick the 2 crankcase halves together you can buy it from yamaha spares shops

                        ++1 to psr sir

                          progress made during the weekend:

                          1. cleaned the crank case (it is such a tedious job).

                          2. reassembled the meter console.

                          3. petrol tank - got dents removed from the old tank. bought a rust remover kit and some epoxy coating. was removing rust by the electrolysis method when, after the first cycle, the tank started leaking. a close inspection revealed that the underside of the tank had numerous holes and cracks. i guess the layers of rust was holding it together. anyway, got the new tank and lo and behold, this too had some rust (surface rust, i fervently hope) and so electrolysis it is again.

                          "Ironic" by Alanis Morisette is a favourite of mine; didn't know i could relate to it so much.

                              Some more purchases

                              Returned from office through Karol Bagh. Managed to purchase a few spares from a Swiss dealer: handlebar combination switches, LT coils, CDI, magneto wire, fuse box, meter console bulbs and 15A fuses.

                              the spares situation looks pretty grim. the dealer was telling me that its unlikely i'll get any more spares manufactured by Swiss as these don't sell in the market at all.

                              keeping my fingers crossed though!!!
