If you have another mode for commuting what i suggest is to wait until you get all the parts and start the rebuild. It gives a clean look as well as you don't have visit you mechanic every time.

Ya, i have another bike but such a long wait, 18 days already is really frustrating. Now i really doubt if the tank would reach me!

Congrats Atul on your restoration. It brings me a smile whenever I spell YAMAHA
The restoration is turning out well I don't think you would get a RXZ at that price tag here in Chennai

Excellent restoration. I vaguely remember a query regarding transfer of ownership, if it was your query did you get the transfer done buddy? Do post a few more pics as you assemble the bike and also the complete bike in the end.

Take care of your clutch cover as it belongs to the list of hard to get spares!

I waited for more than 6 months just to get the whole parts and the mechanic took a good time just to assemble everything, i didn't had anything else to ride. 18 days is not a long time period atul. We want to see a spanking new RXZ

PS --Please take maximum photographs and post it here!!

Good to know Atul that you are almost there with the brand new Z. Lets accommodate some more patience within us as we have come a long way. So little more time will not deter our spirit.

yes sir, almost there a few things will be due and would be done in the next months like the 5-speed casings, front disc!
had the guy who was supposed to send the tank clearly said that he hasnt sent it yet and is just trying to fool me, i would have got my bike ready by now and wouldnt have waited three weeks for the tank

Everything is being done in my shed, and hence only a few people here know about my plans

                  seniors please suggest something
                  Nice work Atul.
Can you please advise how much modifications were required to M800 headlight for this OEM fitting
How did you fix the clamps? Any pictures would be appreciated.

Also, did you go for Left or Right headlight of M800?
If I remember correctly, the Left beam would be aligned a bit towards the left for our RHD configuration?

                  Thanks.

thanks vaasu bro the existing dome is being used. Its the right side headlamp and am yet to fix it.
Some fibre was removed from the inner sides of the mask to accomodate this slightly larger headlamp, i used a sharp knife to do it.
A small custom made rim will be required to fix it to the dome

Regarding the bulb holder, it comes with H4 was raises another issue for those who want to use the existing 35w bulb as H4, to my search is not available in 35w!! and HS1 cannot be fitted. So after searching and thinking a lot, i just modified (CUT) the existing bulb holder at some points so as to fix it in the Maruti 800's Headlight assembly. problem solved

                    Total cost of the setup-
                    Headlamp Assembly- Rs.220
Rim - depends upon the fabricator

                      Update

                      UPDATE:

                      Nearly 80% done!
The tank and other fibre parts are getting painted tomorrow, the existing seat will get a new cover and will be used until the new seat arrives!
Everything else seems to be done. Engine was started, and i just could not control myself so went for a small test ride in my colony in this condition itself
I dont have a compression gauge but could feel that the compression is very good.

Here are a few pics, were taken from my damaged phone hence not so clear

Atul, the engine crankcase cover painting looks good. Are you going for catcon or chrome exhaust? If catcon, then try to get the shield chrome done with similar color so it even betters. There is some thing calls color dipping, just like how they do it for bolts and nuts, you can try experimenting to something in those lines.
                          Just my 2 cents.
