    Yamaha RX 135 5speed or 4speed??

Hello fellow xbhpians, I am in the process of fulfilling my long term dream of owning a 2stroke Yamaha. I have narrowed my choice down to the RX 135 4speed and 5speed. I am more inclined towards the 5speed but have read in many reviews and ownership experiences that the initial pick up of a 5speed in lower than that of a 4 speed.

I have come across some 5speeds but they were not in good condition, so their pick up was low in comparison to some of the 4speeds that I have tested as they were in a good shape. Gurus please let me know about the low end difference between the 2 bikes, is it really significant and noticeable or there is not much of a difference. I am not much concerned about the top end, 0-60 performance is what matters to me.

I am looking for a bike with stock bore, is there any way to check if the bike is running in original bore or do I have to trust the owner's word only.

Waiting eagerly for your valuable inputs, also do let me know if I have to keep anything else in mind while going for any of these legends.

As far as i know what you heard about 5 speed is true to some extent. i own a 5 speeder, yes there a difference in that 0-60 but believe me the 5 speeder is a rocket other wise. i owned a rx 100 (now sold) along with the 5 speeder, the fun was still 5 speed.

it is smoother and faster than 4 speed. but this is my experience.
secondly, everyone has a 100 or 135 so i like the 5 speeder for being a little different than the regular RX

Help for new 2 stroke owners

            hai guys,
i am looking for help on rx 135 issuses.i dont know whether i can post here.Mods please change it if i am wrong.

Now about the bike.I have recently acquired a rx 135 4s. I am completly ignorant about owning a two stroke.I know the working of it and have ridden a few.(i do own a rajdoot 175 but i haven't used it in long time)

The engine is in pretty good shape,it is in second bore now done recently. It was not ridden for nearly 6-7 months and wouldn't start. It was taken to a mechanic who started it up in about two hours fiddling.i wasn't there so i don't know what the problem was.
            I asked the guy to
            1. change the oil,the brake and clutch cables,
            2. remove the wheels, clean and grease the bearings,
            3. clean the drive chain.

            Questions:-
            1. do i need to add anything to the list above,
            2. the bike has rx 100 silencer with a hole cut at the end.is it o.k. to have 100 tubes in 135?
            3. what do i do to keep the bike in a good condition i.e is there something special to do for a rx maintanance.
            4. do i need to de carbonizse the engine(it has recently finished run-in after 2nd bore).if yes, can it be done in yass and what about the cost.

please help me get on and about on one of my dream bikes.I may have more questions in the coming months as i am discovering the pleasures(and pains)of the 135.

            thank you Xbhp

As far as the colour is concerned you cant use military green coz of military thing (thats what ive heard too), but yes under law you cannot change the clour of your vehicle at all , it should be as per RC

Didn't understand much, is it with a cat silencer or the usual chrome one

Use good quality 2 T oil not the usual oil that you get from the pump. Or at least use the sachets available.
If you are using autolube check the lines and so that its working properly. a seized engine can burn a hole in your pocket.
Find a good mechanic who can take care of your bike. Above all learn the basic repairing so that you can DIY.

I don't think you need to decarbonize the engine if the engine has been recently rebuild and the bike has only clocked a few kilometers

Doing it depends in the attitude of the YASS in your locality.

thanks rxdude. The scilencer is the chrome one.It has done about 700 kms after rebuild.
I do know servicing.i do my own work on my pulsar.I can rebuild it myself. But i never worked on a two stroke before.I am reluctant to touch such a special bike to learn.A starting trouble,if you would.
