Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series

    hi everyone

Ok i seem to havea wierd problem since a few days. i own a RX 135 5 Speed.
the probelm is that lately the exhaust smoke has increased a lot. i can literally see the smoke in my rare view mirror. what can be causing so much smoke. i dont ride it beyond the speed of 50-55 kms. and the smoke is not initial as the bike rins for a little while then the smoke starts to increase.

Dire need of help as my tuner says its a 2 stroke and you cant help it.
i ve seen other bikes too but they dont smoke like this

Too much oil in petrol or piston rings worn out or crank oil seal/gasket need replacement.

hi satishg thanks for the reply, is it that i get 2t oil added everytime i fuel up the tank (and the 2t oil tank has its own oil to share of course)

piston etc is very new, will have to see about that crank oil seal replacement

may then its too much oil is the issue.from oil tank if the supply gives you 1000 kms for every 800ml of 2T then what you add in petrol is excess. you may reduce the oil pump supply a bit and add 15 ml/liter of petrol

                another question

                1. what should be the level of engine oil when you check it on the pin. (long pin that is part of the engine oil cap)

                waiting for replies thanks

On the dip stick or gauge(the cap with long pin) there is a part where the metal is flattened.
the engine oil should be maximum where the flattened part starts and
minimum is where the flattened part ends.
Keep the bike on central stand and the place should be flat. its best to check before you start the engine or if checking after a ride wait for at least 10 minutes so that the oil settles. then take the reading.
unscrew the cap, wipe the gauge with a clean cloth. Then reinsert the gauge with out screwing in. Now take it out and see the level of oil.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series

                    hi guys,
I have a little gearing trouble. My rx 135 is a 4 speed.I am happy with the powerband now, but i feel a desperate need for a fifth gear.Like i am straining the bike to the limits. Now i dont want to convert it to 5 speed.
My question is whether i can add a fifth gear cog and 5 s sprocket and be done for a more relaxed engine. Please help.

oh k . so the needle in my case is barely showing any oil. is the lack of oil also the reason for lot of exhaust smoke ?

may be the gear oil is entering the combustion chamber due to bad oil seal , hence low gear oil level

I think this will cause the engine to have no power as there is great difference between gear ratios from 3 rd. here you don't have a 4th gear and mostly the ratio of 5 th is 00. So mostly you will be straining the engine.
The best option is to change to 5 speed gearbox rather than doing something like this.

When was the last time you changed the oil?
As sathishg told, as long as there is seal between the crank case the gear oil is in a separate compartment and oil should not enter.
Before that check the amount of 2 t oil added to petrol

thank you for you replies, seems ill have to get it checked, oil change must have been at least one and a half year old
will get back to you guys after i figure out your advice coz it might just be the oil entering the crank case

I dont understand what you meant by no 4th gear. could you explain.I understand that 5th gear is 00, but it would be the same in the 5s gear box i would be changing.
