Yamaha RX 100 Throttle Problem
Hello guys,
I have a '93 RX 100 and there is a problem with the throttle. Once I start the bike, the bike keeps accelerating and I have to turn it off. It runs fine if I put it in gear but the second I press the clutch it starts accelerating out of control. Also the throttle cable is fine and I think there's some trouble in the carb itself. Any idea what it could be?

Re: Yamaha RX 135 - 2001 Model Oil
Just making the bike run and running the bike the way its intended to ride is different, there lies the difference between a competent mechanic and a moron kb100 Thats was simply superb!!!Originally posted by Bibhu View PostAlthough I do disagree with you about any moron being able to fit an rx engine.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
I recently read up a bit about the RX 100. And the more I read ownership experiences, the more I want to just get out there and buy the beauty!
I even found a good looking one which I might be able to buy at a decent price.
It is a 1994 model.
Q- why is it that someone said: "if you are going to buy an RX 100, buy the pre-1991 model, or be prepared to be disappointed"??

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Either you are running way too much oil, or you have a choked up exhaust, or you are not getting enough spark to burn the afm.Originally posted by Ankitvile View PostNah...im running on premix.
I saw it when i took a roadside halt and switched off the ignition. I saw vapours and fumes.

friend,
that is a common man's dialogue.Don't bother about it.If you are looking for some vintage value,pre-1990 models will suit good.Else you can buy 1994 model,I think it is having 12V lighting.Do a good test ride and if you are satisfied, you can buy it.
Regards,ride safe...

Whats the amount of 2T added?? Decarbonize your engine and exhaust. clean the plug, check the spark!Originally posted by Ankitvile View PostNah...im running on premix.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
2t oil should be mixed 3%. That is 30ml per leter of petrol. Why are you not using the oil pump? Check your current out put and compression too. Weak spark and bad quality oil is the biggest reason of too much smoke.Originally posted by Ankitvile View Post2T oil i mix as 40ml oil to a litre of petrol. And thanks... ill de-carb the pipe. That seems a possible cause.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
If you are a fan of bad ilumination and weak spark then go for the 6 volt "vintage" rx100. Otherwise go for the 12v model.Originally posted by raghavtlwr View PostI recently read up a bit about the RX 100. Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
The sole reason for not using oil pump is i fear of oil pump going kaput and i might not figure it out on a long run. I run around 3.5-4% oil premix. And the fumes radiating out i said earlier was from the exhaust surface...from the whole catcon part after the header...and it happens only when i halt after riding and shut off my engine. It happens only after rides at high rpms. Never happened at low revs. That exhaust smoke is marginally more than usual and is due to 4% i mix...that will come down if i get down to 3%. but thats when engine is running.Originally posted by Bibhu View Post2t oil should be mixed 3%. btw My mech says it is the oil residue in the pipe which burns later when pipe gets heated...ill have to de-carbonise it he says. Although ill be getting it cleaned tomorrow but still i dont get a clear picture on it. compression spark/current everything is fine.Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/
