Any idea about the RDD Cdi units ?? what makes them so preferable as a performance mod?
Malasian chambers are made for malasian rx blocks which have different port geometry... So They wont work to their full potential on our rx unless they are ported to rxk specs.

Rdd cdi kit is a digital ignition system which provides dynamic ignition timing compared to the venerable static system on our rx. Even the rxk uses a dual band cdi. Better ignition timing translates to better engine efficiency overall which in turn translates to better power and mileage. However its out of production so very hard to find as a full kit. Its expensive also.

Do some reading on the difference between static and dynamic timing and you will understand the difference.

Hmm..So 5speeders rev more than the 4speeders right? im currently running a 5speed barrel with a 4speed gearbox,.Sorry to bother you,but is it okay to ride her once in a week that too at speeds of 90+?

Firstly expansion chamber may or may not sound good...and that doesnt decides the potency of the power building capacity of a chamber. So dont demand good flaunty sounds from expansion chambers.
Secondly every chamber designed is RPM specific and designed to be used at a particular part of the power band where u wish to run your 2stroker most of the time. Either it be low rpms mid or high rpms. So the custom chamber you might have plonked on your 2stroke engine might be delivering power at diff rpms than you might be actually running your engine at.
Choosing a correct chamber for your engine (that too a custom made) calls for the whole dynamics of gases and design right from the header to diffuser, belly, baffle and stinger of the chamber. It needs to be designed acc to your use. Which u didnt did and thus witnessed the lack in power.

Chambers by nature would be loud. The only way to supress that sound is to have a long stinger stuffed with glass wool but it would look and sound very odd. You would need to find someone to design and make a chamber per your requirements. Racing experts would be more helpful here.

4sp and 5sp gearboxs share the first 3 ratios. So there is no issue.. Only issue is you would loose the better top end of the 5s in a 4s gb as it lacks the overdrive gear of the 5s. There is no issue in running a 5sp barrel on a 4sp gb. Just make sure you have the 5sp carb too.

One more point.. Never buy a chamber which dosent have a fixed bend pipe.. The ones you get without bend,ie; you have to put the stock bend on it, are useless.

                  • Need help in restoring RX 100

Hey Guys!, I've got a 1989 Yamaha RX100 which i got from my Dad. He got it in his 11th std and I got it in my 10th

                    Initial problem:
The bike was kept idle for more than 3 months due to clutch problems. Then we gave it to full repair. The clutch became ok and i took it for a ride, The throttle was insane. If i open it full the bike would choke and power cuts off. The mechanic didn't notice it. Then there used to be some purring noise at mid revs and took time to go to high revs. The mechanic told that it needs a engine rebore. My dad decided to change everything that didn't work properly
                    • Brakes (Front & Rear)
                    • Suspension (Front and Rear)
                    • Chassis Alignment (Stay Bush)

Then got the bike back. They asked me to not to cross 40kmph for 1000km and no high revs.

                    Current Problem:
Now there is a small problem in Carburetor and there is just no power at all. There are other minor problems too. So I've decided to:
                    • Buy authentic MIKUNI carburetor
                    • Change body panels and tank(rusted)
                    • Full engine repair (Dad says there is no Compression Ring)
                    • Full gear box and Clutch repair (Gear shifts automatically in high revs)
                    • Change complete electrical wiring
                    • Brakes
                    • Indicators and Mirrors (broke them)

So guys, I need help in finding the best mechanic in Chennai and also authentic parts. I want to go out there are start beating my friends in drag races. Most important of all I want my bike to be restored to original setting and no compromise in using alternate parts. Please Help!

you will see a drastic drop in fuel effeciency and to speed, you will have to rev the bike to get to speed, on the +ve side you will have very good torque due to the resultant short gearing , the cons can be compensated to a good extent by using a smaller rear sproket with less teeth

I strongly advise against it. I switched to 17 inch rims. With the stock sprocketing, I got marginally better low end but my top end went for a toss. Bike was unable to cross 95 on the speedo.. Mileage also takes a hit. I am switching back to 18 inch rims.

First of all thank you for answering my silly questions,,BTW did to switch to 17" inch rims or alloys? And how much top end did you lose? My bike crosses 100(speedo reading) with 16" rims.

No man, how would the bike rev more?? What he means is, you have to give more gas to move, more than usual. Hence the low mileage.

I switched to 17 inch spoke rims. I hate alloys on a classic like the rx.. May be classic alloys.. But we dont get them.. The reason i cldnt cross 100 was I was using rx100 sprockets and a longer swingarm. All in all, it was a bad set-up for highway runs. So i am changing back..
