Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Its the better thing to do nowadays since the era of 2S is no more, there were times when we were able to afford new cylinders, even if it seize, as the price were less and more than that it was readily available off the shelf. I too run on premix just because of this fact and the disadvantages associated with premix are very few when compared with today's situationOriginally posted by Ankitvile View PostThe sole reason for not using oil pump is i fear of oil pump going kaput and i might not figure it out on a long run.
30 ml per litre is enoughI run around 3.5-4% oil premix.
Its Ok to fume a little at higher RPMs my Yam too fume a little when i down a gear for that needed power to overtakeIt happens only after rides at high rpms.
Most probably that will be the reason, if you dont have other probsbtw My mech says it is the oil residue in the pipe which burns later when pipe gets heated...ill have to de-carbonise it he says.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Not really brother, even if you have a bad pump, a new oil pump only costs about 1500 rs and goes a long way in saving the engine. The pump puts out as much oil as necessary and not more. Less at lower rpms and more as the rpm increases. With premix, its a fixed and inconsistant amount as far as oil/rpm is concerned. Basically with premix you would be running lean due to more oil/rpm at lower revs.Originally posted by rxdude View PostIts the better thing to do nowadays since the era of 2S is no more, there were times when we were able to afford new cylinders, even if it seize, as the price were less and more than that it was readily available off the shelf. A better practice is to do both. Use 15ml/ltr premix and adjust the pump accordingly. Relying solely on premix isnt always a good idea..

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Oil residue in the exhaust should be cleaned periodically. Just to be sure, change your plug caps. How much compression do you have? Did you check with cold and hot engine?Originally posted by Ankitvile View Postbtw My mech says it is the oil residue in the pipe which burns later when pipe gets heated...ill have to de-carbonise it he says. Although ill be getting it cleaned tomorrow but still i dont get a clear picture on it. compression spark/current everything is fine.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Yaah i agree. These two strokes have fixed carb jets. This means changing the ratios will change the air fuel mix as oil is not gas! Change the ratios and you may need to rejet the carb. Yaah on a long run its sensible to switch to oil pumps..but Its just a fear or a natural instinct that keeps one away from using pumps.Originally posted by Bibhu View PostNot really brother, even if you have a bad pump, a new oil pump only costs about 1500 rs and goes a long way in saving the engine. Anyways...and doing both using 15ml/l premix and pump... how do i adjust the pump accordingly.??

Yaah. But i cling a lil towards .5-1% more than the usual. A slight more oil will only give plug silencers after a long time...or spark plug fouls. But less oil will do no good. Although 3% is enough but i love to keep a safer side. Experts recommend from fuel/oil ratios from as high as 20:1 to as low as 50:1 .... I keep it somewhere in between.Originally posted by rxdude View Post

What is a fixed jet in two strokes? are there any variable jets? please elaborate.Originally posted by Ankitvile View PostYaah i agree. These two strokes have fixed carb jets. Too much oil means lean mixture and chocked ports & exhaust, which in turn would cause overheating and loss in power. Inturn it will damage the engine.
2t flow can be adjusted from the cable adjuster on the clutch case.
Either dip it in soda water and leave it for a day... Or clean it with a long rod and burn the remaining residue.Originally posted by Ankitvile View PostWhat would be a good proceedure for de-carbonizing of exhaust pipe?? Esp. Two stroke ones...

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
^^^yaah there are variable carbjets too. Not here though. Annyways back to the point....mist lubrication will do no better benefit than Autolube proceedure thas for sure. Ill get the pump working again...and ride it that way (hoping it keeps on working
)
And the 5speed's cat con...has it to be brunt from inside too in order to decarbonise or soda water will do nicely?? And what is the proceedure where mechanic says that exhaust has to be cut and welded??Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
the only way to fully decarb the cat exhaust involves cutting the silencer remove the cat and then scrape out the carbon from the insides of the header and burning the cat to get ris of the carbon in the honeycomb , the best bet will be to go for a chrome type exhaust , it will help you shed a few kilos and will be easier to decarbOriginally posted by Ankitvile View Post^^^yaah there are variable carbjets too. Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
By chrome type exhaust you mean one of those like the rx 4speed boasts??? I can plonk it on my 5speed?? Any alteration or thing i need to keep in mind??Originally posted by kb100 View Postthe only way to fully decarb the cat exhaust involves cutting the silencer remove the cat and then scrape out the carbon from the insides of the header and burning the cat to get ris of the carbon in the honeycomb , the best bet will be to go for a chrome type exhaust , it will help you shed a few kilos and will be easier to decarbCode:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
You would need the header. No alterations needed. But the front foot rest and brake padel wld have gap. It wld be better to change them.Originally posted by Ankitvile View PostBy chrome type exhaust you mean one of those like the rx 4speed boasts??? I can plonk it on my 5speed?? Can you name a few bikes with a variable jet carburetor? I wld like to research it. As far as i know all carbs have a variable main jet and venturi apart from the scooter ones.

front fender of yamaha rx-100
Hello Xbhpians iam from delhi, iam looking for the front fender of yamaha rx-100,my bikes current fender is chipping off so i thought of getting a new one but the current oem available in the market r not that good the gauge used in the fender is of higher number plus the chroming is also not of that standard,so is it possible to repair my current fender or should i get it fabricated from a fabricator and then get it chromed,if any member can suggest a good fabricator name in delhi(with address or phno.)then it would be good.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
I installed the chrome exhaust...sourced one from the lying dead 4speed. Post installing it the bike feels a little free now...and rev happy. But the way revs used to take time to build up when i ran it with cat exhaust which was due decarbonising....now its reduced athough...and now revs are developing a lil more freely. But is it true that the 4speed has a good initial pick up...than the 5speed?? coz when i ride the 4speed it pulls superbly at initial revs however it doesnt has a good top end like 5speed. But when i get back on to 5speed now it pulls less at initial rpms than the 4speed. So what im concerned is with ....if 5speed is that way normally(low at low rpms)...or if exhaust choke wasnt the only problem. If i need to look for more lurking problems.Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
The 4sp rx has smaller ports which contribute to a healthy bottom and midrange but run out of steam very soon. The 5sp has a bigger exhaust port which means it wld develop power higher at the revrange. The 4sp lacks the smaller overdrive gear of the 5sp also. Which contributes to less top speed.Originally posted by Ankitvile View PostI installed the chrome exhaust...sourced one from the lying dead 4speed. Its normal what you are experiencing. For street use, it wld be more appropriate to use a ported 4sp block with a 5sp gb. Best of both worlds.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Ohh great. Thanks a lot Bibhu. And also pulling the 5speed at high rpms in every gear and then coming back to normal riding...the engine then starts to behave as if its running out of fuel. And when i shut off the throttle the engine dies out instead of idling...i have to keep the revvs up...and slowly bring it to normal..then it idles. The same thing used to happen back then with the cat exhaust too.Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/
