I switched to 17 inch spoke rims. I hate alloys on a classic like the rx.. May be classic alloys.. But we dont get them.. The reason i cldnt cross 100 was I was using rx100 sprockets and a longer swingarm. All in all, it was a bad set-up for highway runs. So i am changing back..

Hey man, Dont call me sir. I am a noob too.. I keep learning everyday.. Its part of the process of owning a two-stroke in this era four-strokes.. It is my opinion, from my experience, it is better to keep classics as close to stock as possible because if anyone screws up a mod, its very hard and expensive to go back.

Believe me, what I know is just the tip of the ice berg. There are people on this forum, mostly inactive now, who are 100 times more knowledgable than me. Whatever I know comes from them mostly.. But good to see lately people taking more interest in the rx. The rx scene was almost dead a few years back.

All two strokes were extinct. From scooters to the mighty rd.. Recently there is a trend of resurgence...specially for the rx, as they are the only 2-stroke bikes, whose parts are still there..

Experts, I need some inputs regarding the rear suspension.

I am using my RX135 for daily commute to office. I felt that the OE suspension was a bit hard and so I changed the rear shock absorbers to SNS type. I have set it to the softest setting. Though it is better compared to the original one, I still feel that the suspension is a bit hard. My mechanic says that I should change the seat to OE type(currently the seat is of bucket type) and also change the angle of suspension to get a better ride. I don't want to spend money on seat and the labour on changing the angle of the suspension and finally end up having same kind of ride quality.

Can you guys please share your ideas on this? Would it be really worth changing the shocks angle? Any other suggestions to improve the ride comfort?

did you try adjusting the setting on the shocks to softest ?

Yes I did. As I have mentioned earlier, it is better compared to the OE suspension, but not even close to the ride quality of even a splendor or a discover.

^^^ one reason for the difference you feel is due to the hard seat of the RX, changing it to a little more softer one makes a great difference. I have used both.

Thanks rxdude. Yes, currently my bike has a bucket seat type. I guess a normal Rx-135 type seat would be more comfy, but again if I change the seat I may have to change the handlebar as well (the bikehas a short handlebar now) to normal OE type. I feel comfortable to ride in city traffic with the short handlebar, but not sure if it would be comfortable with the OE seat combination.

BTW, anyone has any idea on removing the rust from the petrol tank? My bike's tank is totally rusted inside. The tank had been repainted when restoring the bike. So, I am hesitant to send it to an acid wash. I do not want to spoil the tank's outer appearance. The rust is getting deposited in the carburetor and I have to clean it every 1000 odd Kms.
Enquired 3M about cleaning it and applying anti rust coating on the inside. But it seems that in Chennai they do it only for cars. Any idea to remove the rust without affecting the outer appearance? Any place in Chennai where they do it properly?

The OE seat is hard and is not comfy for long rides.

There are different methods, like you can add some nut, bolts, chain links in the tank and shake well using some solvents.
You can contact the Yamaha showroom There was one product available for removing rust and forms a coating in the tank. It was marketed by escorts and may not be available now.
Once you have removed the rust, you can add a few ml of 2T oil along with petrol to prevent rusting in future.

                              Guys....need help.
Iam in a big dilemma regarding sourcing a correct expansion chamber for a RX 135 5speed.

Firstly choosing correct expansion chamber is my priority and that calls for putting down the option of thinking about a KRP or similar expansion chamber making cottage companies. Coz i think they are not that potent in terms of power delivery and tuning.

The thing is i need a chamber which doesnt pits the piston or does any sortof bullshit post installing it.
Although krp etc give chambers which are meant for RX ..but i doubt their potency going by the way theyre built...with the same diffuser profiles and chamber being so simply done etc.

I know and u may agree too that a correct expansion chamber has to be designed custom-ly. But that requires years of experience. But since i have no such guys here around all i have is an option of getting it from the market which then leads back to companies like KRP which make no sense to me. Although guys here have used MOTA software and other software methods making two/three stage chambers. But then somewhere or the other it seems irrational to me. Software shit is for simple spoon feeding newbies.
What one needs from a chamber and built it accordingly cannot be done through softwares etc. Locating and ranging the power band of the chamber is what needs to be done.
PROTON is another i saw people have used on their 2strokes. I have no idea about how they are ?? Any inputs will surely help on it.
How is the nature of proton chambers?? Better than Krp??

Really........ then why are most of the manufacturers like yamaha suzuki , kawasaki ,rotax and ktm using them for designing the chambers , there are good tuners in this country who use softwares to design and build chambers , heck there are guys in this forum who have designed chambers using mota and are happy with it ,
when you are using a proper softwere to design a chamber it involves first simulating the the engine in the software first and then designing the chamber
My friend if you are waiting for an experienced roadside mechanic to drop out of the sky on to your lap and build you an expansion chamber for cheap that works then good luck to you, because it will be a hit or mis exercise , try talking to any roadside mech , he will talk as if he he ia a race mech and a genius and has worked on race machines and won medals , you will never know if he is the real deal or just claiming so since he has changed oil and washed somebody elses race machine
there is no way you can get one that works from the street you will have to design and build one yourself

PS: last i heard elsewhere that in Bangalore Malaysian/ Thai made pipes are available for under 2k you can try getting one , these are designed for the rxz or king sold there these are said to work with the indian 135 engines after proper upjetting and also they are top end boosters low and mid pretty much goes up in smoke
