  • Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series

Hey hey. Easy pal....Youre sounding all tweaked up. I see how my pointng finger at the KRP etc took u up for a toss.
Thats what my point is....even i dont think a mechanic dropping outta sky in my lap designing a chamber for me. The thing is I think KRP etc are so not good as the custom done ones coz the latter gives you what you want...you design it your way. and if im wrong please help me out...thats why i posted here. You guys are experienced and that might help me out... If you could help me out with the performing characterstics of KRP or any other chamber post installing. Okk!!....err... here it is....leave custom chambers for the while... Currently I have my mind on Proton chamber. What i need to know is how it differs from the KRP in terms of power delivery. If it has wide power band or a narrow one as compared to KRP?? What would be good for my 5speed??. Will it be perfect for street and occasional 100+kph bursts.

i have seen only proton pipes here , guessing by their length they are supposed to have a wide power-band , if you are going for it dont expectt too much it will be good for pottering around town , if you re going for it do upjet

      • Yamaha RX 135 - 2001 Model Oil

        Hi All,

I recently changed the engine oil in my bike at shell. The image of the oil has been attached in this post.

I want to know if the oil is good for the engine ? . Also which is the best engine oil for my bike?

I would also like to know the correct oil to mix with the petrol since my side oil tank is disabled.

Please also provide help on best mechanics for the bike for service. I stay in Rajajinagar,Bangalore.

        Thanks

Lets be clear here. The image on your post is for gear box and not for MIXING with petrol.

Side tank oil/2T oil is something goes inside the carb inturn in to the engine block.

Correct mixture for pre-mix (ie petrol and 2T oil) is 3% = 30ml per litre of petrol.

            Hi all,
After buying an Rx135 a year back, I started read many blogs regarding 2strokes in xbhp and t-bhp. When it comes to 2strokes, people start talking about RXs, RDs and Shoguns. I don't know why only a very few showcase their KBs, Sholins, Samurais. On reading the posts, I now feel that I should experience a Shogun and an RD, but sadly no one I knew owns these machines.

I could also find that everyone says that a stock shogun is way better in power and performance than a stock RX. I haven't ridden a Shogun, so I don't know the difference practically. If Shogun was such a great bike, then why don't people mod their Shoguns and make it an even powerful bike? I know that the spare parts availability is an issue now. But was there such mods during yesteryears? I don't find any blog regarding a Shogun being modded.

AFAIK shogun was modded right from the factory, so there's no much room for modification in your hands.

Yes...this oil has been fed into the box next to the kick starter and has not been mixed with petrol.

Do answer the other questions that I have asked for

Yes... Actual rx135s made near 16bhp too... Any 2t in proper tune makes more power than its indian counter part. Point is, rx has survived the test of time due to better availability of parts. Most of rx power parts are derived from the rd parts, reeds, port maps, big bore etc. Shogun just got lost in time i guess due to tvs's negligence i guess. Same as kb.

i you are refering to the king it made 18 bhpees, and on the contrary it was yamaha that has benn neglecting the rx , tvs , bajaj and even hero honda was coming out with new models regularly and updating the existing ones regularly , heck yamaha did not launch a single new model till 97 they did not even bother to upgrade the lighting to 12v while everybody did the only exception was the rx125 which for some reason was released in miniscule numbers and then stopped.
the shogun cannot be compared to anything that has been made ,is being made or will be made in this country , while most of the bikes rewrote rule books the shogun simply tore it up , it was a bike that was built contrary to every thumb rule that existed in its day , while every other bike vied for attention shogun simply grabbed attention by its balls , there was nothing subtle about the shogun it was fast even while it was parked on the center stand and out of fuel , it was probably the only other honest bike after the cd100 , while the cd100 was built for mileage it gave no illusions of power , the shogun was built for power it gave no illusion of mileage , it wasnt neant for the average guy who wanted a stroker , it was meant for the few who knew exactly what they needed, tvs in fact used to supply a rally kit for the rallyists of its time which included an expansion chamber and an higher output coil plate assly , during the old days of rallying the shogun was simply untouchable

the point where the rx scores is its simplicity , of especially its engine , any halfbaked idiot by the road with a spanner set and a hammer can take it out and put it together , there is nothing inside that breaks easily and those do arnt easy to break ether, this is the single biggest factor that is in favor of the yamaha , while the suzys had gearboxes notorious for false neutrals ant the kb had a comparatively complicated engine , and also for the fact most people listen to the roadside half baked cutlets and his chokra more than their heart, or brains and when he says that the suzy is bad because of its gearbox and kb is bad because he could not put it back together , people just fall for it

                          Nice write up...

A few things from my side... The original rxk made about 16bhp and had port maps simmilar to our indian 5sp. Later it was upgraded to 18 with more aggresive ports.
Regarding yamaha, I honestly do not blame them because they launched one of the most famous superbikes in world in india and it sunk like the titanic. It shocked them to the core, this attitude of our people.

Shogun, well it was built for a different purpose than the rx. While the rx was aimed more towards being a fun commuter, shogun was the original single cyl hooligan.. Rx was everything to everyone, commuter for the family man, a road racer for those who wanted it to be. On the other hand, shogun was made to do only one thing, run and run hard.

Although I do disagree with you about any moron being able to fit an rx engine. Its my personal opinion that rx are just better built than suzuki bikes.

A shining example is the moron who assembled my rx last time, he lost half of the dowel pins, fit the oil pipe in such a way that oil never flowed and the local ledh guy did such a goof job on the crank that the bike seized in 8000 kms.
