Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series

elaborately how to remove some of the metal because i couldn't understand what you said ?????
I haven't done something like that. You always do something like this with the help of reputed mechanic. According to my understanding the head ( I hope you know what it is. It's the lid covering the cylinder and is situated on top)
People decrease or shave off the inside portion so that it increase the compression ratio that is the air fuel mixture is compressed more. More the compression better combustion within the limits. Maybe this leads to an increase in sound.

they are ready to give me the new silencer at 1300/-. shoud i buy that??????

Why you want to buy it if its already there on your bike?? Are you buying something that is brand new or from junkyard??
If its brand new it might not be genuine as genuine one cost more than 2000 INR.if its old the price is on the steep side

thanks allot buddy you are a genius !!!!!

and yeah my silencer is being damaged by someone and my mechanic says that get a new silencer because inner part of silencer is damaged where sounds likes to play ,that's why you are getting plain treble sound and bass is missing all because of that. i am uploading pic of my silencer you can see there is 2 nut fixed already but i don't know where did it came from and what was the purpose of this.

Is the nut welded there or is it bolted there by piercing the silencer. I cannot make out from the small screen I am using.
If its welded I think it might be a provision for attaching the heat shield. But to this day I have never seen something like that on RX in stock or modified form, except for the cat silencer which came fitted with one.
Let some experts comment about this

Yeah it is welded , as you said it is for the heat shield, i don't think so because u can see both nuts are different the rear end i can put there a screw to hold something, but the 2nd is welded a nut may be there's a hole or something like that, the owners wanted to close that hole so he welded that area with nut.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series

Although my Rx135 4s would need a complete overhaul but for the meanwhile a issue ive been facing since a long time but riding it somehow. Its that....The bike screams and revs more than it runs. Engine in every gear reaches its threshold quickly when a moment comes it starts screaming and in top gear i realise im at mere 60-65kph with throttle half open.
Bike is old and has been through lot of abusing from the guy i bought it 4 years ago. My Rx engine isnt one of those ones as usually are (torquey and powerful) I mean one can easily give a wheelspin on a Rx mine doesnt do so.

probably your clutch plates are worn out , replacing them should sort out the issue, also get your cylinder compression checked

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series

I got the Clutch plates changed recently and as per the compression test i think the compression is fine. Mechanic says so too. Still ill go through one.

did you change both the clutch and friction plates, also check the top pressure plates for wear and tear also what is your rear tire diameter is it 16" or std 18", what was the compression test reading

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series

Yepp both the plates. Infact first thing popped in my head was this....and got it changed a week ago. Pressure plates are fine. Rear tyre is 3.00-18
And as per the compression test it wasnt done through a compression gauge. It was a conclusion that the local mechanic deduced by his own methods. He assured me of it. But yaah ill get it checked again...

                        is an engine overhaul necessary??

                        Hey guys,
I m new here, own a 1994 rx 100 since 2007. The previous owner and i have clocked more than 80K kms. I want to know if an engine overhaul is mandatory at this stage. the bike returns 38kmpl easily, although there has been a lot of white smoke when idling for the past few years(may be cud i premix oil in tank). Also it would help if u know any place here in chennai where they do a compression test, and also the best mechanic in the city.

If I am right, the company recommends rebore at around 45,000 kms.
In the end as you said the compression test will give the right answer.
