Hi, I am a two stroke lover like many of you , I recently bought a 1996 model Yamaha Rx-100 4 speed and all performance parts stock . I am having some help with the restoration/mod of this Rx. (iam not a vehicle expert. so if you give me a sujjestion, please provide me with the exact methods also).
1- i Am having a 6v wiring and 12v battery. somehow it seems to work but the headlight bulbs seems to blow out every now and then. I replaced regulator/rectifier and the bulb holder. Doesn't solve the problem. also how to do a 12v convertion.

You have to change the coils, rectifier, cdi, all bulbs etc

2- I am hoping to install the Yamaha RD350 speedo/tacho meter into this bike. What changes should i make on doing this. Also how do i install the RPM meter. Do i need to convert it to a digital CDI for this ? Also what changes will a Digital CDI bring to my bike and what are the steps that i should do for this conversion.

You can do it by drilling the right side engine cover or buy an rxz right side clutch cover and installing rxz tacho worm kit.

3. I want to convert it to a 5 speed RX100 , what are the changes that i should make and what is the exact process for doing so.

Rx100 am not sure. You can convert 135 4 speed to 5 speed by installing convertor kit which includes 3rd, 4th and 5th gears and the shaft. For 100 seniors might give you a good reply.

3. Better shock absorbers . I need better shock absorbers as i am travelling mostly on bad roads and it feels bad with the current condition of the shock absorbers . What are the changes that i should bring to improve the comfort on this bike.

Stock escorts or Gabriel shocks are good. Some people install bajaj ct100 dual coil shocks. Am not sure about the comfort. Or nitrous shocks also can be used but the height will slightly increase.

4. Improved power, Yes even though its a monster. i need it to have more teeth and claws. So what are the changes that i can make to improve the power/pickup. i have heard that the usage of some of the rx-135 parts result in improved power. if so what are the parts that i should replace.

5. Even though i love the sound this monster makes. i would even love the sound of a converter installed rx100. so what are the pros and cons and also the method doing so.

Convertor? I didn't understand what's that. Is it catalytic convertor or a chamber?

6. Also the carburettor changer , A bigger carb helps in increased power right? so Which carb should i buy and what are the necessary changes that i will have to make .

Just putting a bigger carb is not enough. You have to port the engine. Better air intake with free flow, calculated power chamber and along with this if you put a bigger carb you will get a good result.

Yeah , man glad to have someone from kerala and Rx family to back me up.
So finally i got my hands on a Speedo/tacho meter which i have liked. And also found a mechanic who seems pretty much positive about installing a RPM meter.
Will keep you guys posted.

Anyone here using electronic tacho on RX? (to be specific, 4 stroke tacho converted for a 2 stroke)
I have a couple of 4 stroke tachometer lying around and I would like to experiment converting them for 2 stroke application.
Please suggest / direct.

4 stroke tacho won't give exact reading for 2 stroke.

There will be a variable resistor for adjustment. Changing that might change the reading. Am not sure about the changes as I didnt opened a 4 stroke tacho. There is a guy who does that.

You can use a shogun or shaolin tacho directly to rx.

Go to Gee Bee auto spares, they have all the parts you need to rebuild your carb, the carb gaskets are available here, it comes as part of the complete packing kit, the one from Bangalore is little dodgy, I have a couple of them lying around, let me know if you need some. If you are going to Bangalore I would request you to help me getting a seat beading for my RD, its available with Rao seats, I will PM you their number.
