Nope, it is not connected to anything , but you can fix a pipe onto it so that dust doesn't stick to it directly !!!Originally posted by sanjaynk15 View PostGuys, what is this hose? Is it the crankcase breather? Is there any tube connecting it to the air filter??Safety is a Cheap and Effective Insurance Policy !!!

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Guys, recently I have cleaned the carburetor (removed it and cleaned every bits inside) of my Rx100 and refitted, looks good. But everyday during the first start the beats splutter with lots of smoke and huge loss in power. But after 5-10 minutes of riding things get back to normal. Is there some things wrong with the ratio of fuel and air mixture I might have messed while cleaning the carburetor? If that's the case then it should not get sorted out after 5 minutes of riding. BTW I have topped up 2T oil can which was running empty couple of days and I have a practise of including 2% of oil mixed with petrol always.
I doubt on the following:
Fuel and air mixture setting in the carburetor.
Running rich on 2T oil
Clogged air filter
Please help, the initial ride experience on every start of day is annoying me a lot.

check if the frame is way rusted, if yes sand blast can make it worse,, ask your mechanic to check if it is surface rust or has gone deep. if the frame is rotten badly I advice you to get it welded or repaired and then paint,, sand blast involves high pressure blast which make things worse if the frame is not strongShoot with a Nikon..Drive a Chevy..Ride a Yamaha

You mean you were riding with a completely empty 2T oil tank for days ?Originally posted by joe_marvy View PostGuys, recently I have cleaned the carburetor (removed it and cleaned every bits inside) of my Rx100 and refitted, looks good. What sort of cleaning you did on the carb ? you removed the main jet ? if so did you put the back the black o-ring washer between jet holder & atomiser ? did you change the air screw setting ? let me know

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
I was running the bike without 2T oil in the oil tank for 2 days approx and I would have hardly covered 4-5 KMs in the two days. I not sure if it was total empty, but I always add 2% 2T oil with petrol whenever I refill petrol.Originally posted by satishg View PostYou mean you were riding with a completely empty 2T oil tank for days ?

I removed the entire carb from the bike, leaving the main jet assembly hanging along with the throttle cable. So I have not dismantled the main jet (if you mean the needle like thing which is screwed to the top of carb, sorry I don't know to explain it better). Opened the carb into two and thoroughly cleaned inside out with petrol and blowed compressed air (using vacuum cleaner) through the small holes. I have not removed the air screw and idling screw. Just opened to clean the residue it collected all this time. I have put back everything in its place back and fixed it back.
Yes, I did changed the air screw setting but things went terribly bad and it was a bad mistake I did that day by messing with that little screw. So I took the bike to my mech and he corrected the setting. I never touched the carb part because of the tuning, which I couldn't understand. But this time I took the plunge, everything looks good except the issue I have posted. Still need to learn how to tune the air screw settings, if you can please shed some light on this too. Thanks for your help!

also check if you have installed the float pin correctly, it is always good idea to check with the throttle cable as it splits into two one for 2t servo pump and one for carb,
if you do not have stock handle bar ,, may need to check as most of the cases short handles will cramp the cable

BTW I have a Shogun handle and I'm sure the cables are not cramped. My issue is initial pickup is dead, splutters a lot with excess white smoke and this all happens for the first five minutes of my first ride in the morning. If I keep the bike idle for 1 day this issue happens. This issue was always there, but if I let the bike to idle for a couple mins it will be fine. Now the time has extended after the DYI.
Everyday I ride my bike 1-2 kms to keep the 2 strocker in me calm.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Please note that the main jet is sitting inside the float chamber. It is a brass tube with a small hole at one side . the thing which you removed hanging from the cable is the slide and needle. If you found lot of muck in the float chamber use a good petrol filter to stop the muck passing into the carb.Originally posted by joe_marvy View Post...
Regarding tuning of the carb if the mechanic did it then leave it. it is actually 1 1/2 turns out from fully closed position provided the idle jet is OE
If your oil pump is fully functional 20 ml oil per liter of petrol is on the high side. you can use max 15 ml every second filling
When you park the bike overnight did you off the petrol tap ? if not keep it off and see whether the situation improves. Overflow in the carb can be the reason for this particular issue, one reason for this is rusty petrol tank, rust particles in the petrol will prevent the float valve from sealing completely resulting in flooding of the carb. worn out float valve can be a reason too
