Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Well ,I ain't An ExpertOriginally posted by sanjaynk15 View PostGuys, my '91 RX100 is running on G2 bore. I don't know if the cylinder kit has been replaced or not. I opened up the cylinder head and found that the cylinder wall doesn't have a lot of scratches or wear marks. I decarbonized the piston and head today. I'm worried about the noise from engine(reduced a bit after decarbonization) sounds like piston slap. What might be the cause? Is it the piston rings and piston that I have to replace?
But According To The Picture Taken, I Think The Studs Are Going Loose. Had The Same Problem In My RX Too, Gave the cylinder to the lathe guys to work upon, It seems to be okay now. BTW did you have any sorts of leak around the cylinder head area?

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
if its just the GB, then you need a 5 speed GB with the clutch dog, swap the GB with your existing GB and you are done, costs about 8-9K, but this is of no use if you want the bike to perform well you need the complete 5 speed conversion. If you want a complete conversion you need everything except for the engine centre case, better to buy a whole engine, but prices are close to 30-35k these days for a good engine, let me know if you need any help sourcing an engine. you can drop me a PM and I can guide you. However you should be prepared financially before you decide for the whole conversion.Originally posted by Arun V Dev View PostWhat are the necessary mods that i will have to do to convert my rx100 to 5speed . any one expert in RX 135. plz help me
hai karthik, i am new to this site and i have an RX - 135, 4 speed, 2002 model currently running in 0.5 size ART piston. my barrel was giving worst (Kirrrrrrr) sound. and giving mileage of 15 KMPL at speed of 90 - 100 KMPH. If i re-bore to next over size 0.75 with TOP PRO piston. How much mileage will expect at normal city riding and also in top speed. please tell me. Thanks in advance.

Re: any one expert in RX 135. plz help me
Usually the mileage drops if there's a lot of clearance between the piston and the cylinder. It will need an oversize. To be very honest with you, I've never ever checked mileage on my bikes. So I'm guessing 30-35 should be a good mileage (or fuel efficiency) to expect.Originally posted by Shiva Kumar Pinjala's View Posthai karthik, i am new to this site and i have an RX - 135, 4 speed, 2002 model currently running in 0.5 size ART piston. my barrel was giving worst (Kirrrrrrr) sound. and giving mileage of 15 KMPL at speed of 90 - 100 KMPH. Yamaha RX100 - Help required
Firstly xBhpians i would like to thank you for reading my post..
I am from Hyderabad and own a 94 Model Yamaha RX 100 and i am very much looking forward to restore my bike.
I would like to seek help will it be OK to invest on RX 100 as i am scared that the government may banned the 2-strokes.
Secondly if i plan for a restore what would be the estimate? Currently the bore size is 90 and it sound a little due to connecting rod problem.
Currently the bike is in good condition( You can rate 7/10 in appearance and engine condition) but i want it to look 10 on 10.
Please suggest any good mechanic if you know any ?
Thank you in advance for your valuable replies.

Re: Yamaha RX100 - Help required
First of all, 2 Stroke Ban might affect the autos and not individual bikes. There would be a few thousand bikes and close to 2-3 lac autos so its obvious which would get banned first but unions wouldn't allow this so atleast for next 5-10 years bikes are safe.Originally posted by badmaashhacker View PostFirstly xBhpians i would like to thank you for reading my post..

There is no size as .9, standard is considered as 0 and it goes up in the increment of .25mm, if its .9 presently(which is highly unlikely) the n you can rebore it to 1MM size. Now while restoring the bike only sky is the limit however from my experience it would cost anywhere from 20-35K if you are not getting a new/used cylinder kit. but I have also done restoration under 10k, it all depends upon the canvas you start with, the pics don't give a clear picture of whats in hand, but assuming you have a good paint/plated parts you might need a engine rebuild(2-5K) and new tyres(4k) and a new wiring kit and battery(2k), switch gear 500 INR and other little bits and bobs look at spending 10-15k.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Hi
Gonna Asking Some Dumb Questions
My mech just said that the Crank of RX100 weighs more than that of a 135 which he says results in driveability and chugging of 4th gear aroung 15-20kph which is not possible with the 135.
My question here is..
1. Is this true?
2. Can I implant a RX100 crank into a 135 without affecting its overall reliability and driveability?
3. Effect on Overall performance? (0-60 times gonna affected? ,Fuel Efficiency Drop?)1988 YAMAHA RX-100 [GONE]

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
The weight of the crank is not true, it was true for old bullets and not for the RX series. You cannot use the 135 crank since the stroke length of the 135 is different from the 100 and if a 135 crank is used in a 100 it will result in the piston hitting the head, you can modify the head for this change, but trust me its not worth it. you can convert a 135 into a 100 and a 100 into 135 with changing certain parts. it will definitely effect performance and fuel efficiency depnding on what you are planning to do. its not possible to get the best of all the worlds, you will have to compromise on something to gain something. Don't think of converting a 135 into a 100, a lot of people are doing it the other way around due to obvious benefits.Originally posted by RTR996 View PostHi

There are a lot of urban legends, I have even heard of mechs telling about Rx coming with a tongue to reduce the exhaust port duration and rx 100 not being a 100 cc bike in the true sense, lot of these stories are passed on by mechs to increase their rapport with the customers, if you happen to hear such stories its time you look for a new mech.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
actually both the rx100 and 135 both have the same stroke length (only the cylinder bore dia and porting is different) you can use the rx135 crank in the 100 provided you change the connecting rod assembly to that of the rx 100....., this is not due to the difference in stroke length but because the rx 135 piston uses a larger piston pin compared to rx100 pistonOriginally posted by yam View PostYou cannot use the 135 crank since the stroke length of the 135 is different from the 100 and if a 135 crank is used in a 100 it will result in the piston hitting the head, you can modify the head for this change, but trust me its not worth it. you can convert a 135 into a 100 and a 100 into 135 with changing certain parts. it will definitely effect performance and fuel efficiency depnding on what you are planning to do. its not possible to get the best of all the worlds, you will have to compromise on something to gain something. 2. Can I implant a RX100 crank into a 135 without affecting its overall reliability and driveability? (Since the rx 100 crank is lighter you will have
a faster accelerating bike but your low end will suffer , also you cannot directly graft the rx 100 crank directly , you will have to change the co rod to that of rx135 as the rx135 piston pin is larger than that of the rx100 basically considering the costs and headaches involved ,this mod if done will greatly benefit your ,mech financially ) 3.
