  • Yamaha rx100 pickup drop when rising throttle suddenly problem

    hi friends,
i having yamaha rx100 1987 model,i restored everything recently, there is two major problems are there,
    1. when riding the bike at low speed about 20 to 30 km its ok, but when rise the throttle to increasing speed suddenly the bike pick up getting fully down, so that i cant overtake any vehicle in critical situation.

but if i increasing throttle slowly first bike pickup drops but after few second bike getting high speed as i like, maximum 100 to 110 it can go.

for that i changed new bore, reed valve, clutch full assembly everything but problem not solved,

i checked with another good carburator eventhough not solved,

please help me in this matter thanks...

I am assuming you are doing 20..30 kmph in top gear and then wot without changing gear. It doesnt work that way.

      Instead..

      Down a gear
      n
      Disappear.

          • Don't plate the small stuff, buying new is cheaper and better. Plating the head and other engine parts will lead to chipping due to heat generation , best idea is to buff them to mirror finish and keep them clean, they last well.

          • Buying a new tank is a great idea, old tanks cannot be fixed well and rust will cause a lot more damage, people claim that epoxy coating is the best possible solution, but I have always seen more damage caused due to these coatings.

          • Get the chassis powder coated, that is the best treatment it can receive.

          • Do get the RXZ tacho as the shogun shaolin tachos have a lot of issues, they are not easy to get and they cant be repaired. RXZ tachos are available in plenty, the whole setup should set you back by a 1000 bucks max

          • The RDD CDI can be installed in the stock coils, if you are looking for better lighting, get the allied Stator, magnet and RR unit and get a pulsar coil added to it, the RDD CDI can be installed to this setup.

Thank you Pramod Sir,For the quick reply....

Can you help me source the RDD CDI......can it be directly used with the stock coils??
The lighting part I got covered....I recently converted my bike to all DC...so putting a new reflector will do....
In the current condition, bike can handle a HID+Dual horns without any problems......
But the ignition coil and pulse coil wasn't touched at all....so if RDD CDI can be used with stock setup,I can plonk it to the existing setup....
From where can I buy the RDD CDI??
I reside in Mumbai(Chembur) Area.....I've got a trustworthy mech for the resto-mod process and he too says that you cant buy the RDD CDI anymore....
Regarding the plating of Engine Head part......thank you for the suggestion....I'll keep that in mind...and I too agree for the painting the chassis with powder coat method....it is truly the best treatment we can get.

            Thank You

P.S: I didn't exactly get the pulsar coil part.....Can you elaborate...

You are welcome, RDD CDI can be bought from or from Rons facebook page https://www.facebook.com/RDDreams

You will have to place the order and wait.

There is a new company called Allied which builds pulsar less CDI kits(similar to the Suzuki 2 strokes) for both the Rx 135 and Rd 350, for the RDD CDI to work, you need to have a pulsar coil added to this stator, but this is a 90/100 kit, so does the job of a 90/100 RDD kit.

Regarding the powder coating, you will have to strip the old paint off, if you use chemical stippers it will effect the new powder coating so the place where you take it needs to be reliable to give it a through ferro wash and then coat, Most of the guys burn off the old paint, I don't like this method as the chassis gets warped most of the time, so best way is to sand blast the chassis or do the good old scrubbing using a sand paper or wire brush.

For disk brake use gladiator setup. You can get second hand or new one depending upon your requirement and funds. My suggestion will be to get a used one where you will get all the parts including the rim and spokes. Or old pulsar 150 disk setup also can be used. Both are direct fit. Don't buy front mudguard first itself as it depends on your disk setup. For pulsar you have to buy pulsar front mudguard. Also get disk setup 1st as if mudguard requires painting that also can be given with the tank.

As pramod mentioned get chrome parts new. It's waste of time and money to get chrome for old parts. Even the Silencer. As I did restoration recently I did chrome for silencer and carrier which was a mistake.

For suspension get Gabriel shocks. It's best for rx.

Rims and spokes finalise after disk setup.

For rpm meter get rxz meter set. New one is easily available in market.Getting a shogun/shaolin meter is like searching a needle in hay stock. Why I am saying is I did the same mistake which you are going to make. Tacho on my shogun meter does not work and no one repairs that. Getting a new one costs you more than gold price. Till now my tacho is just a show piece. .

And best of luck for your rebuild.

                  Hey people,

The list of parts you need to procure depends upon the bike for which this tacho belongs, If its an RD(or any other mechanical tacho) then you need an RXZ tacho worm kit, get the clutch case drilled and you are all set.

If its an electronic one(from shogun), I would suggest first check the tacho and make sure its working. The connections are simple. One wire goes to the HT lead and one is battery and the other one is ground.

If its from a 4 stroke Bike then it would not require you a lot to get the right reading even though it works.
