Need help in restoring rusted Yezdi in Chennai

I dont know if I am posting in the right section.
I want to restore my Dad's 1976 Yezdi which is lying unused for last 15 years. I need a good mechanic in Chennai, who can get the bike back in running condition with as many original parts as possible. The bike is rusted and I dont know if it can be restored. But after reading this thread and Mr.srinikashyap's guidance here, i have some hope it can be done. Thanking you all. Am posting a current pic of the bike.

Roadking Piston

Hi All,

Posting some pics of a .40 piston which i recently bought. Although I know it is not a Mahle, I am also not quite sure if its an IPL piston. Looked pretty decent to my eyes, hence got it. Know for the fact that something is better than nothing

Seniors, would need some advice on the quality of the piston.

I am looking for a Roadking speedometer with the other box for ignition housing. If anybody could help in this regard would be appreciated.

I just picked up a 1970 Jawa. Bike was unused for some years. Still, came into life easily with minor carb & points tune-up. Please enlighten me further as im a newbie to Jawa/ Yezdi arena.

Petrol is leaking from the lower end nut side of the Carb. Is there a gasket to be put in? We tried to tighten the nut from outside. But it seems, we need to pluck out the carb again. We had done it once to clean it.

Bike seems to pull easily, but there is some strain to put 3rd & 4th gears. They are not engaging easily. Most of the times, i do get stuck at the 2nd gear. Something to do with the selector forks?

Compression is good. So is the spark strength.

Gurus like Shrini can help me i believe..

Updates-

42 years of active service..The Jikov carb was beyond repair. So, bought a new Pacco Carb for Jawa. Luckily found one in my home town itself. Paid 1k for it. Its the exact replica of the Jikov one. Installed it. Bike ran just fine.

Some oil leak is there under the engine. Needs to inspect. Need to fix the papers first. Most probably, tomorrow i'll fix up the seat. Its in shagged state. I've ordered one OE Jawa tail light too. Lets see.

That's looks like an old Yezdi..looking at the engine and the porcupine head. The petrol tank is of a jawa.

I recently bought a 1987 CL2, but i doubt if the head light is the original one it self. Can you help me in finding out the original head light assembly (which has the lamp integrated to the body) for Yezdi from Chennai or Mysore?

Thank you all for reading my post. This thread and the forums have been a great help to me and I've learned a lot of things.

Some of the performance mods already done on the bike -
1. Sprocketing - Changed from stock setup of 46T/19T (2.4105) to 48T/18T (2.6667),giving about a 11% increase. I was
looking for a smarter acceleration and don't ride my HADES above 70kmph.
2. Block porting and head changes.

I want to know which filter would be good for my HADES, i.e. K&N, Pipercross, UNI, Greencotton and which would be readily available in Pune.

After reading this thread (pages 54 and 63) and searching the net, here some information that I gathered -

1) K&N - RC1060 or RC1040
Installation - The best way to install a K&N would be to place it in the stock filter and upjet.
Availability - Readily available in Pune at Darshan Tyres.

2)Pipercross - As far as I've read, these are somewhat better and of the foam type. They are available in Mumbai with N1 RACING EQUIPMENT. Can anyone tell me where can I get these in Pune?

3)Green Cotton and Uni Filters - I know nothing about these. Can someone please let me know where can these be found in Pune.

I know these questions have been asked innumerable times, but please excuse if I'm posting this again. The reason for asking this is because I'm currently restoring my HADES and need to get this part sorted before my bike gets re-assembled in a couple of days.

Just came across the Cosworth universal filter. Are these any good?
