Then how would you know the level of oil?
Bladerunner- Yours is a Shogun? In RX100 atleast you can replace the glass. Costed me Rs.84.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

When the level reches some minimum level, the oil warning indicator lights up on the console. For checking the actual level at any time, you have to open the side panel and check the plastic tank... which is quite easy on the Sams, Shoguns, Shaolins.

If your oil pump is working fine then I think you could have just replaced the glass.Originally posted by Bladerunner View PostI have an RX-135.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

has anyone done a financial comparison of the expense incurred on 2T oil for our two-strokes as compared to the four-stroke bikes available today.
i have been on an rx-135 but have never really made this running cost comparison. i mean i'd like to know how much more i am spending on 2T engine oil as compared to someone on a 4 stroke as the engine oil is getting burnt as well in our 2-strokes.
also, how much on an average do you guys spend on 2T ?
figures must be an eye-opener, i am guessing. There once was a woman who was quite begat.
She had three babies named Nat, Pat, and Tat.
She said it was fun in the breeding,
But found it was hell in the feeding
When she saw there was no tit for Tat.

The one you have shown is from an RX 100. The 135 never came with the gauge.Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostIt is a plane see through glass. Looks like this

I have just installed a new oil pump and its very well calibrated too.
With my new oil pump the bike seems to be using the 2T oil more efficiently.Originally posted by hell_glider View Posthas anyone done a financial comparison of the expense incurred on 2T oil for our two-strokes as compared to the four-stroke bikes available today.

I am currently measuring the kms and I have done around 915 kms and the tank still has more than half oil left in it. I think I'll get around 1800 kms on a full tank of oil.

o man !!!
mine seems to be guzzling in that case. i've just got the oil pump re-calibrated. so lets see. if its still guzzling, then something is seriously wrong.
any ideas guys, on probable causes why my rx-135 could be guzzling 2T ? things i could check for ??
thanks and ciao

its the pump that came with my bike. so thats around 10 yrs. when i got some servicing done last week, i told the guy that 2T oil consumption is very high. so he said he's set that right. its just been about a week now.
i put half a litre of penzoil just before the servicing.
now i've got 1.5 ltrs of shell 2T. i'll put it in after i exhaust the existing oil in the tank. then will see if the guzzling continues.
apart from that any other issues which could cause guzzling ? i'm running on first oversize piston/rebore. i don't think the work's been done properly. the bike is ok for puttering around at 50-55 kmph. 60-65 kmph and above is really harsh on the engine and you can make out its struggling. anything in this area could contribute to high 2T oil consumption ?

Hey the pic shows the arrow type which i mentioned. I have a RX135 but what my 2t tank has is just a plane glass through which you can see the level of oil directly, No empty - full arrow.Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostIt is a plane see through glass. Looks like this

I doubt a local mechanic will calibrate the pump properly. Its not as easy as turning the screw on the right side above the oil pump.Originally posted by hell_glider View Postits the pump that came with my bike. so thats around 10 yrs. when i got some servicing done last week, i told the guy that 2T oil consumption is very high. so he said he's set that right. its just been about a week now.

It has to be done according to revs.
If you engine is in a bad state the its no use anyway. You need an engine rebuild like I just did.
