^ The AFR gets screwed big time if you keep the oil nipple open, once the AFR gets screwed chances of running too lean is high, hence it gets seized."Engine tuning is not an exact science, but with some practice and patience you'll get comfortable with your skill and be able tune for any conditions mother nature throws at you"

My Samurai has succesfully completed 95000 change KMS without putting the 2T oil in the tank(Fuel tank). 2T oil goes in the oil tank.
I pulled out the 2T tube from the carb to check working of the 2Tpump, i understand how important it is for the piston to be lubricated all the time.
Am an amature mech (you can say) open for learning any time.....hehheheh.Last edited by sat_06; 11-16-2009, 05:50 PM.2012 TVS APACHE RTR 180 ABS.

95 k km... cool dude!
Would be very interesting to know if you have changed any engine parts in the interim. Also which lubes (2t and gearbox) are you using? How many times did you have to decarb in that period? And I presume you are on the original oil pump too?

My samurai is a 2000 model the dual meters wala. Changed only the clutch plates twice. Probably i have to change the crank, piston and the cylinder block, will do it after i have enough moolah for both shaolin and samurai.
Samurai is for daily use for work etc..gives me 54 average.
I was using Castrol Jetx before now because of the unavailability am using BP Mak2T and for the engine am using castrol 20w40.
Yes, original 2T pump never ever opened the engine.Last edited by sat_06; 11-16-2009, 11:57 PM.2012 TVS APACHE RTR 180 ABS.

Now that i remember, i got the bike decarbed back in 2006 and the muffler cleaned i believe, and even chain sprocket changed twice if my memory serves me right....hehhehe
Performance i never really cared, for every 4000 or 5000 KMS i get the bike serviced Oil change etc..i never ever had any major problems with this bike, just start the bike and zoom off.....
aree haa once i had a problem, bike just wouldnt start even after cleaning the carb and sparkplug fuel was there everything was checked still the bike wouldnt start. At that time my main mechaninc was not there, a kid who used work for him said 'i remember my boss once changed the rubber oil seal in the engine. He opened the left engine cover and removed the magneto removed the busted seal and placed new one thats it.Last edited by sat_06; 11-17-2009, 02:01 PM.2012 TVS APACHE RTR 180 ABS.

Testimony to a suzuki's engenuity, often in India we have been really praiseworthy of Yamaha and they deserve it, they are really great, but suzuki are like the Dravid of the indian motorcycle scene, does its job in absolute harmony.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjWXI8T2HUM

Ok guys, i have put a lot of stress on my brain not since my graduation exams which was a long time ago.
2Toil pump is controlled by your throttle how many of you agree?
Now once again this was a semi pratical done by me on my samurai, i think i will explain this with some pics.
Just a thaught for your brain.
for 1Lts of petrol if you put 40-50ml of oli in the fuel tank and if you rip your vehcile what will happen?
and if you put 1Lts of petrol in the tank and let the oil pump work its magic what will happen?
For my samurai 1Lts of 2T oil should run for 1400kms i guess as per company specifications.
So i usually get around 1000 - 1200 kms and after ripping i used to get 800 to 900.
Thanks to this topic i was able to understand a lot.2012 TVS APACHE RTR 180 ABS.

Saw a cartoon of JETX at a castrol stockist here today, its the feb 06 stock, so the price per 500ml is 105 only, the colour of the oil to my surprise was blue wen i opened it and poured it in my bike. Guys now i know that JetX came in green but did it also come in blue? the now stock if am not mistaken jetX is like fuelish colour, (maybe wrong)
Now i have 2 questions
1)Is blue a normal colour for JETX, or has something gone wrong with the oil
2) Is JetX worth it, to stock a cartoon at home, or are there anything else with that same price range offering better charecterestics?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjWXI8T2HUM

While I can't recall the colour offhand, just make sure it is Power 1 Jet X and not just Jet X. The former is significantly better.Originally posted by Nikhil Pereira View PostSaw a cartoon of JETX at a castrol stockist here today, its the feb 06 stock, so the price per 500ml is 105 only, the colour of the oil to my surprise was blue wen i opened it and poured it in my bike. And let me caution you - lube oils generally are said to have a life of 4 years if stored right. Thats the max. Personally, I'd not use stuff more than 2 years old, to be on the safer side. You may be risking your bike's engine by using oil that old.
Why not try Petronas 4000 or 5000 or Motul 510? You should be be able to get a newer stock and they are much better too. New stock of Jet X seems to be unavailable here... seems Castrol has discontinued it.

I switched to Shell Advance VSX2 and ran the bike for over 500kms, including Bengaluru-Mysore-Bengaluru 327kms round trip.
I found no difference in comparison to Yamalube.
Will I buy it again?-No.
Next turn will be of Motul's.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

And for a 2 stroker, this is even more creditible...
