I doubt you may be running with excess 2T oil ratio (premix + oil pump)Originally posted by TVSian View PostFilled 2.83 Litres of Fuel for ₹225 (₹25 for Oil - Lesson learnt,so that Fuel tank would remain rust-free)
What is the quantity of oil mixed? (for 25 INR)

Yes ji,I doubt the same.I don't remember the quantity mixed, as I was kind of in a hurry yesterday to reach class in time.I remember I mixed oil worth ₹25 from the Petrol Bunk itself and didn't use the spare Motul 2T that I have.Originally posted by Mr.Boss View PostI doubt you may be running with excess 2T oil ratio (premix + oil pump)

But too much oil should result in too much blue smoke right ? That is seen while cold starting the bike but after that it simply vanishes and runs without any smoke...which scared me in the first place as I thought the engine wasn't getting any oil lol.But yeah, even after the premix and oil-change in the tank,it remains the same. Some blue smoke during cold start and after engine warms up,no smoke at all.
I shall definitely keep a check on that next time the bike goes to reserve.[My Motorcycle]

Re: TVS Suzuki Max 100R - Good First Bike ?
UPDATE
Bit of a disappointing news really : The carb was recently retuned when the tank was changed. The bike was easier to start when cold but Fuel efficiency also dropped :/
Fuel - 2.83 Litres filled with Odo Reading at 260.0KM,Switched to Reserve on 348KM.
348KM - 260KM=88KM
88KM ÷ 2.83lt = 31.09kmpl
Fuel - 2.53 Litres filled with ODO reading at 350.0KM,This time with no oil.
Will be cleaning and retuning the carburettor soon, but not yet,due to work and studies.[My Motorcycle]

Nice thread you have. Your care for your bike is just amazing.
About the iridium spark plugs, they are not worth it. You'll be better off changing 3-4 regular spark plugs for a lower cost.

Sure,I'll stick with normal spark plug!
UPDATE :
Bike running well,Went for a small trip to ECR (100KM Round trip),Bike cruises well at 60-70kmhr with a nice buzzy engine note. But when I tried to push it further,it reached 80kmhr but after a few seconds,it started to die down, like fuel cut-off I think.I got a little scared as I thought spark plug is dead and I didn't have a spare but luckily,de-accelerating to 30kmh/r at 3rd gear, the engine started again and was comfortable cruising around 70kmhr....definitely the carburettor needs work.
Went to a mechanic to fix the sidelock properly as it was getting loose often,He did some good work.Couldn't check efficiency as friend had ridden it and he had filled in ₹150 worth of fuel,so I didn't mind to check...in fact,Riding it is such a joy,I don't think I need to really 'worry' about 'bad' fuel efficiency numbers.Few problems remain/cropped up :
1) Metal-Rubbing noise when rear brake is being applied, but goes away when the brake has started to slow the wheel down, meaning the noise remains until the shoes inside the rear drum touch the walls to slow the wheel down.No idea where it comes from and why it comes exactly.
2) Chain Noise when vehicle moved backwards - There is a TakTak noise when the bike is moved backwards. There used to be the same noise when bike was running, but after chain was tightened, cleaned and lubricated.I feel it's been overtightened.
3) High-beam light in console not working.Forgot to mention this one,It stopped working recently.Maybe it's a simple bulb change.
4) Requires Carburettor Cleaning and new Spark Plug - To fix bad mileage and cold starting issue. Also the fuel cut-off issue at high speeds.
5) Seat frontside got loose again,I fixed the rear side myself and it's tight and secure. But the front side has become loose and is kind of moving around...got to fix it
Some major works,as suggested by experts :
1) Piston Ring Replacement : They suggested me that the rings might be worn out, lack of compression making engine hard to start and drinking more fuel. This work seems to require the engine head to be opened.
2) Clutch Plates Replacment : Again,They suggested me it might be worn out.Bad clutch plates could mean the engine needs to work harder to get the wheel spinning, meaning more revving = worse fuel efficiency.
I need to know the cost of both of these.[My Motorcycle]

Re: TVS Suzuki Max 100R - Good First Bike ?
UPDATE
Got a new helmet, finally! Previous helmet was from an old Vespa,Half face and was an irritation for the ears. This one is VEGA Pioneer Blue&Black! ISI Certified! Costed about ₹1,200.The visor is clear and scratch resistant but although,it gets fogged up easily. It's a little tight for me but the guy said that with use,the pads will automatically adjust and will have a long life, compared to buying the bigger size and the helmet will start to rattle around...made sense.Got it from 'Seven Star' Bike Accessories Shop,Teynampet. They sell Helmet,Visors,Basic Tank Bags.etc.Experienced people with good attitude towards customers.I had to try like 7 helmets and this suited me well. Also the Blue&Black Colour Combo goes well with the Bike IMHO.
Also I had to adjust the clutch as the bike, standstill, was randomly stalling when slotted in 1st gear with clutch engaged, but was perfectly finely idling on neutral.I was able to fix it and the gearshifts have also gotten smoother with a silent click instead of a solid thud.
Overall very happy! Fuel prices have also gone down,so efficiency is less of a worry. But I am anyways, gonna clean and retune carburettor, replace spark plug and plug cap to that of HH Passion Pro which is in Red Colour,I've heard that it is waterproof so that is an advantage. Also planning to get rid of the dual horns and install a single horn on the original place, should save a lot of battery juice. Its a bit too loud and kind of disturbing me.That's it!
I might be taking a short break from updating the thread as I will be busy with concerts in this December season. But I shall try to update soon! Thank you everyone for following the thread![My Motorcycle]

Did you say a temporary bike till you save enough for a new one? I see this as a start of a journey and I bet your association with this bike will be a lot longer (or at least I wish). Kind of make me nostalgic when you describe the efforts taken to fix each and every small niggles. All the best mate.Contribute to the environment.

Thanks a lot sir [emoji120] That was originally the plan, but the moment I started riding this bike, the plan started to change.I'm going to keep this bike till it's end, because everytime I ride it,There is a wide grin on my face. The ignition key is the key to happiness.I do not have the Vitamin M or knowledge to completely restore the bike in one go,but I am trying to do it step by step. Thanks a lot for your wishes sir, stay tuned for moreOriginally posted by nirvaana View PostDid you say a temporary bike till you save enough for a new one? UPDATE
FINALLY!!! Cleaned the carburettor,Spark Plug and Air Filter today.Although not by myself, but with a mechanic. This is a different guy, located in Vadapalani - Very experienced, works mostly on old 2 strokes and cast iron bullets. He saw the bike, first asked me when I got it,what's the price.etc and then his words : 'super paa,It's a nice bike, even I have one'.This made things more interesting. It took me nearly an hour to get the left panel open, get the air filter box out and clean the dust...he was did it in 20 minutes WHILE he was looking at me,talking about the issues and how he can fix it - that was simply amazing for me.He got the carburettor out,Drained out the fuel, filtered it,took the filter out and then he dismantled the carburettor completely, soaked in brake fluid, cleaned it inside out and re-assembled it,Took Air Filter,Soaked in petrol and cleaned it,Used old brake cable to clean spark plug.He offered me a biscuit in the meanwhile. Then put it back in,He took the spark plug out and cleaned it,said that the engine was running a bit too rich,Adjusted the idling and AFR Screw. He,then took the bike out for a spin and then the next words 'Vandi arumaiyaa irukku paa,Vithuraadha' - Translation : Bike feels great to ride,Don't sell it.Then he did a complimentary brake check-up and adjusting,Now it's much stronger. But as he worked,he found out more issues that needs work :
1) Chain Sprocket is on its way out.
2) Need Brake Shoe replacement.
3) Need new Accelerator Cable.
He said he can fix all the bugs in a single day,but yeah,it will take an entire day.Anyways,I am very happy with his service.I will definitely be going back to his place one day,Hopefully sometime in January.
Enjoy the Pictures!

Re: TVS Suzuki Max 100R - Good First Bike ?
UPDATE
Carburettor Cleaning + Retune,Spark Plug Cleaning and Air Filter cleaning proved beneficial! Cold Starting the bike is much easier now! Pulls cleanly without any hiccups and top-end there is no fuel cut-offs,The bike reaches 90kmh/r comfortably and stays there so that's the top speed lol Also I notice that the amount of blue smoke it puts out has slightly increased.
Bike went to reserve today,Poured 2.71 Litres of Petrol worth ₹200 (₹73.51 per litre as on 9th December 2018) with ODO Reading at 742KM....Let's see if fuel efficient has improved.
More work coming soon![My Motorcycle]

Well,I did the same method of checking and fuel efficiency has improved by a bit,at 36kmpl.
Guess,I shouldn't worry about it not getting 40+kmpl because petrol has becoming cheaper and the bike is just awesome! Starts within a kick or two, runs silky smooth with no jerks or hiccups along the way.
Next work remain on throwing away the horns and getting a traditional single horn![My Motorcycle]

Re: TVS Suzuki Max 100R - Good First Bike ?
UPDATE
Finally got rid of the ugly useless guard + dual horns and got it replaced with a nice single horn right behind the headlamp,But couldn't get OEM one as all the parts shop that I visited told that OEM horns are unavailable and best is to search used,so settled for another brand (don't remember the name) and clamp was very rare, not many horns can be fit.I got it because of past experience,It's doing the duty well on my mom's Jupiter for over a year now.I hope it works just as well. The Clamp was thrown away as it was rusted to bits. There was some vibrations with the Front Guard so when it went away,The Rattle went away with it too
After the work,I got home and sealed the terminals on the horns and damaged rubber boot with Black Electrical tape to make sure stuff like water don't mess with it.The bike looks much nicer now! Let the pictures speak for itself!
I don't know what work I'm gonna do next,But the bike is doing great![My Motorcycle]

UPDATE :
The Speedometer rattle became worse with time and I finally had to sit down and see what's wrong. Also the High-Beam Indicator light blew so I had to change that too.People suggested that the rattle is because the casing has broken. But after inspection,I found that the screw of the left mount has broken, but luckily I was able to take it out and the threads of the mount was not damaged.Bought a new bulb for ₹5 and a new screw for ₹2 and fixed it!
Next work : Handle Top Left Screw.I had opened it up to see what's wrong and found a broken bolt.I need to get it to Laith to remove it and will be installing a new bolt.[My Motorcycle]
