That RXZ looks beautiful and tempts me to hunt one for myself

Few questions after seeing the pics, hope you don't mind.

Which cylinder have you ordered from Malaysia? Their RXZ is rated@18bhp I thought How much did it cost totally, the cylinder?

What have you stuffed between the seat and tank where they meet? Is it to prevent harm to the tank?

Also, what is your opinion regarding running RXZ with catcon & with RX100 silencer?

      Is the handle bar new?
      Happy riding

The cylinder that i have ordered is for the indian RX series, but of 14.5 bhp. The RXZ over there is vastly different from our indian RXZ.

The indian RXZ is basically a RX135 with a RXZ body panel. The original RXZ is different. Also the parts between their RXZ and ours dont match.

its a 14.5 bhp RX block. rest assured. With shipping its costed me ~11k. Customs i dont know will charge how much.

What have you stuffed between the seat and tank where they meet? Is it to prevent harm to the tank?

I saw a few rust marks on the tank where the seat touches the tank. Thankfully they were just marks, no paint loss, but to prevent further rubbing, i simply put a soft cloth right now. Later i will put industrial grade insulation tape, or maybe some aluminium tape to prevent any wear due to rubbing between the tank and seat. A new seats for the RXZ has arrived, i still have to go collect it from my supplier.

Also, what is your opinion regarding running RXZ with catcon & with RX100 silencer?

The cat-con gave it a good low end due to the back pressure, and i feel lesser vibrations, but the RX100 silencer sounds totally different and gives the engine better breathing space. I have not revved it above 5000 rpm, because the piston tends to jerk above that ( done only 37kms since rebuild ). So gradually as the engine opens up over the next 1000 kms, then i can give you a better answer.

But yes, the weight saving of the RX100 silencer ( 3-4 kgs ) vs the cat con ( 12-14 kgs ) is also worth it!!!

        Is the handle bar new?

Was! hehe. Now its fully rusted. The only thing that dint turn out well. Ill replace it once i get the embelm mounts for the front Yamaha logo below the light. Then ill be opening up the front end to install the mounts, and new handlebar.

The front wheel has a slight wobble at 60 kmph, which im crusing around at for the running in, so that also has to be trued.

I wouldve happily stuck with the stock block, but it was suprizing to see a 12.5 bhp block instead of the 14.5 bhp one, and the owner was not of the kind to swap it or anything.

I ordered one more block, but that came to be another 12.5 bhp block.

So then i had to source one from abroad.

        Happy riding
        thanks man!

^^ thanks man.. the word that i got from a yamaha rep was that they sold about 3600-4000 bikes. and the last ones sold for peanuts.

to put it into perspective, the first owner of this bike bought this bike in 2000 for 28,000 rs, partially because he was a yamaha employee, and after 10 years of owning it, he sold it for 16k, which is practically all profit for him!!! And that too when this bike was retailing for about 52k onroad!!!

^^ then you are my new best friend... Would you happen to have the mounting plates as well?? hehe!!!

Seriously, would you be willing to sell/send them to me???

Btw i did about 60 kms on the bike only, and 200 bucks of fuel vanished!! Theres a leak in the petrol tap.

I went for the original petrol tap with the plastic cup at the bottom which has a filter in it also. But sadly its leaking petrol badly. I tightened it as much as i could by hand, but i think ill have to change it.

I liked the original silencer, but a) too heavy, b) too restrictive on the engine and c) i was getting a RX100 silencer brand new!! why let go!!!

Though i am searching for the original RXZ 4 speed bent silencer as well. Anyone having any information please let me know.

                      - Also the bike doesnt start easily if its idle for about 2 hours or more. I literally have to put the bike in second gear and then try push starting it, and then the kick starts the bike. Any ideas/suggestions why?? Could it be the 2-t oil?? im guessing my mech put mak 2t in it, the green one. Its kinda real smoky also.

I dont know exactly but the same happened to my RX a few months back during the winters when my friends Rx usd to start in a singlekick mine had to have around 5-6 to start and also a fair bit of idling brfore you can ride off (And that being idle for an hour or two) It was rectified by my mech with some adjustments to the Carb and also the 2T flow. So it may be the case with you.

Which 2T are you using except Mak... I was using Yamalube but recently (2 weeks) i havent been able to source it. So using Castrol 2T...

PERSEVERE... failure is not an option!
