most new cylinders come in cardboard cases with or without foam/thermocol packing, the best method to store it is to keep the cyl in a sealed polythene bag with the cylinder walls coated with oil of high viscosity oil or grease as thin oils have a tendency to settle down you can use chain lubricant spray as they tend to sick to surfaces longer (Dr Niteshs prescription) , and as for rodents , my dear its the first time im hearing about that, as for the new rings just keep them in their sealed packages , without opening they can be stored for a very very long time, as for the piston , again just store them in the factory packaging they're made of aluminum alloy and they normally dont rust
@kusmaker : your helping mentality is greatly appreciated , but instead of copy pasting stuff from the net directly, go through them first ,understand them , and then decide whether it is is relevent in the context that you are going to apply it and then post,

    sorry for going off topic

Thanks for informing, yes ofcourse i have read it on internet and you can call it copy paste, but then you will learn by reading a book or from a person, or from the internet, or by experience, as i have learned from you, why i said that cylinders should be oiled because we are already facing this issue of rusting and that too in a packed cylinder. There is no need to be sorry bro because you found that iam wrong somewhere and should be corrected.

How difficult is it to score a rx100 block piston, full packing kit, cdi and carb
Everything else including the body work exhaust meters and all I can source...
Price wise what should I look out for the above

Sourcing rx100 parts is the easiest thing, and most exciting too,(if we leave one or two parts) all the parts are available, block piston is available at 8000/-rs, carb costs some 1400/-rs, cdi will cost you 1500/rs,(i think) full packing kit is not at all costly. Everything is available, for exhaust i will suggest you to get an old one, older ones are more heavier and sounds truly like rx, newer ones don't sound that ringing like tone i don't like them personally.

8000 for the block and piston
                    R15 costs lesser
                    Thinking of a project

Yes brother, that's the price one has to spend to rebuild this legendary bike, i don't know the price of R15 engine block but even fzs engine block is costing some 2500/rs, recently we have ordered a new cat-con silencer for rx135 4speed and it's gonna cost us some 10,000/-rs.
but rx owners are still smiling even after spending so much of there hard earned money on this money guzzling bike.

Ok then will have to wait for this
I cant imagine what rd block pistons will cost,
Also I had an opportunity to buy a blue and white rxz 2 years ago for 9000rs:banghead:
                        I left t because it had a rusted exhaust:banghead:

Last what i heard the cost for rd block piston was costing a whopping 85000/-rs, you left rxz for 9000rs, and i left one rxz for mere mere 900rs, can you believe it
, if the rust was just on surface then it's no big deal, the biggest problem arise in procuring spare for this bike, most of the time you have to go for aftermarket parts which are not at all reliable, the body panel has extinct like dinosaur, the cylinder kit is hard to find, can be sourced from malaysia but the cost is huge, one of my friend has just orderd a 6speed rxz gearbox which will get his purse lighter by 26000/-rs.

Friends is there any other option regarding piston cylinder kit apart from oem one as it costs nearly 8500rs. Is there any aftermarket kit of any other brand..??

We have seen when Yamaha would start supplying bore kits for our beloved RX, it is very disappointing to see someone wants only aftermarket kit. Save the world.

Also, er.Parneet - you get only the crankshaft assembly which includes connecting rod but they are not sold separately. Crankshaft assembly costs around Rs. 4000/-.
