I think Yamaha don't provide separate connecting rod, but you can look out for seeco connecting rod(if iam remembering the name correctly), another connecting rod is from aromaengineering.

After market cylinder kit? for RX? To save some penny if you neglect OE cylinder kit, sorry to say you may regret at future.Originally posted by er.parneet View PostFriends is there any other option regarding piston cylinder kit apart from oem one as it costs nearly 8500rs. Is there any aftermarket kit of any other brand..??
Since you asked, there are few local made cylinder kits available (don't remember the brand) ranging from 3500 ~ 4500.
Some branded piston + rings on those cylinder will give a better life & performance.

Re: Spare parts thread 2 strokes Yamaha RX family

I have a friend that bought a block of cast iron for 900 rs and got the original specs and sizes and got the block machine out on a cnc machine or something for his ax100 suzuki I think for 1700rs and he bought the piston etc and his bike was running fine, he said hardened aluminium blocks can also be used
Why not look into something like this?
Just my 2 cents:thumbup:

Re: Spare parts thread 2 strokes Yamaha RX family
All of the cheap cylinder kits which are available in the market are mostly chinese make, these chinese makes starts from rs2500/-, but the product is utter crap, life is only around 20 to 25000km, one of my friend had used these chinese ones on his rx100, and his block only lasted 15000kms.

Re: Spare parts thread 2 strokes Yamaha RX family
Thank you friends...i will go for the oem kit...the connecting road also needs replacement...what do u suggest for that...should i buy the crankshaft assembly for it or just the connecting rod from aftermarket...??
And what brand bearings i should use for crankshaft support as the bearing are in a very bad shape.
I saw some pic on internet where yamaha has supplied bearing kit containing all the engine bearings. Is it geniune or fake...i.e. is yamaha supplying such packing...??

If you are going for a rebore you should go for oe crank shaft assembly by this way you can be sure, you can go for aftermarket connecting rod, but then the lathe guy should be good and that's where the troubles start, on bearings part i will say go for oe bearings, as there are lots of fake bearing in the market by the names of SKF and other brands.

MACO is a good and reliable name when it comes to aftermarket con-rods. It costs around INR 550 for a con-rod kit.Originally posted by kusmaker View PostI think Yamaha don't provide separate connecting rod, but you can look out for seeco connecting rod(if iam remembering the name correctly), another connecting rod is from aromaengineering.

You can opt for re-sleeve job of the same bore rather than buying some aftermarket stuffs. An experienced lathe guy can do this job meticulously by opening the ports to match to a OEM one. Sheetal and Krishna are some renowned manufactures of sleeve. Sleeve cost would be around INR 600 + lathe guy charges. If ports are matched correctly as per the company specs, there is no harm using sleeved one bore.Originally posted by er.parneet View PostFriends is there any other option regarding piston cylinder kit apart from oem one as it costs nearly 8500rs. Re: Spare parts thread 2 strokes Yamaha RX family
I talked to many mechanics . They said if u are keeping the bike with you and not selling it, never go for the sleeve job. It will never match the quality of the new kit or the bored cylinder. People go for sleeve job if they have to sell the bike. Moreover, in case of 2strokes, u have to cut the ports in sleeve which never matches exactly the original. Apart from this no reputed company manufactures sleeves.
curious to know
