To answer that, bhp/ton ratio cannot be the absolute measure of a vehicles performance, since the power and torque curves, the spread of power, how it is utilized, and the gearing employed to widen this power further, all make a difference to the vehicles performance.

But i guess BHP/Ton ratio is also an important factor for considering the Top speed & Performance (Acceleration) criteria if not the most important.

These were not mentioned in the comparo.Just like every mags, they might have used Vbox for the 0-60 figures. We can safely take it that RX100 did a usual 105kmph(for me only) and FZ16 its own fifth geared 113kmph.RX100 was never about top end but the way it went towards top end.

I bought the Autocar copy just the day JD666 mentioned it here.I think its a very unique comparo as it compares two Yamahas past and future,How they differ and yet they remain the best of their times.FZ16 is a very Torquey machine, but with a slow motor.RX100 a torquey machine too but with a fast motor............result,RX100 reaches powerband faster, which may in some case may result in running out of revs before the Top speed gets high.We have to know the fact that FZ16 has came some 15yrs later and all these problems had been sorted out.I know some people just used a RDD CDi, to get it to perform like powerful 4T bikes with higher Top speeds.
So, I think if someone is really interested in the stock RX100 figures and how it went about its game, he should get his hands on the Autocar May2010 issue. It will be an informative piece and a valuable collection too.

      @jd666...........this is for you checkout,Wiki's info about RX100, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_RX_100
its an overkill of performance, I never pushed a RX100 to attain the performance that has been mentioned here, usually wiki is always correct, but still was stock RX100 that good???? !!! They say its the owner's manual specifications !!!!!!!!
And what is this Chamber: 120kmph, expansion chamber or transmission chamber ????

^^ top speed as claimed by the company was 99 kmph, not even 100 kmph. bear that in mind.

This wiki page looks to be written very shoddily, and the pic of the bike is not even of a genuine rebuild. I think when once aargee completes his rebuild with all new parts, it would be better to change the picture as well.

120kmph, with some mad porting and a bigger piston yes maybe. keyword being maybe.

                  Yamaha RX115

RX115 makes 15.5 PS of power, more than our RX135 5-Speeds.

Check attachment. Now i am really pissed as to why India had such low powered versions of RX.

The RX-K 135 is around 18PS, will post the catalogue soon and everybody knows the Malay RX-Z 6-Speeds are rated at more than 20PS.

God save India & RX fans here. Even to date there is not a single twin cylinder bike produced here after RD350 and it took more than 20Yrs to launch a liquid cooled engine (R15) after RX100 came into existance !!! That is great isn't it !!!!!

The other day i was watching a video in which some Italian guy was street racing with a Ford Fiesta in a Aprilia 125CC Liquid Cooled 2-Stroke bike which was churning out close to 50BHP & top speed in excess of 160Kmph. And in India till date we don't have a bike which crosses 150Kmph (Maybe the stock RD350 in excellent condition would do that).

Hats off to our govt & emission norms or whatever crap.

RX115 do exist. a pic taken by me.

                    More interesting bikes:

RXK with what locals call a "pineapple head". Rotor, Caliper off an Aprilia RS125. Fairing from a Malay RXZ

RD350LC, behind it is my NSR being loaded on a tow truck.

lol. they may be rated at 20ps but they do not make anywhere close to 20ps.

lol again. RS125 makes 35BHP if unrestricted. nowadays all Aprilia RS125s are restricted and will need special mods to put out 35BHP. But then again theres the Polini 152cc big bore kit, coupled with a Dellorto VHSB34 and VF3 reeds for the Aprilia RS125 which makes me say yumm.

Great... Thats why i told you, happy riding on your NSR and let me do my stuff on my Indian RX.

Nothing personal here mate, but the way you have penned it down here, it seems as though you are in R&D team of some Motorbike company. So lets cut the crap here & end this debate & concentrate on Indian 2-Stroke biking scenario which of-course was the original aim of this thread.

Anyways thanks for the picture of RX-K bore kit in another thread. Now thats what i call productivity.

exactly, thats why there was no 110cc variant of the RX100 in India, nor anywhere else in the world. The RX100 "Executive" of all of these is nothing but imaginary stuff posted by a lot of people on forums..The fact is there were no pre 1985 110cc RX's..period

@ kartik - there are milder ways to put across your points. This is the second instance where you make personal remarks when your points fail to make a serious impact. Its utterly childish and spoils the feel good on the forum. Plz refrain dude. Peace out
