Re: Weekend/ Holiday rides: Joy of Motorcycling
This is a really brilliant travelogue. I very much yearn to visit these places some day myself.
But for now I'm wanting to make one day/weekend trips to places around Delhi. If someone could help me with a link to that?
Apart from that, I'll be following this thread for your trips. Sitting up here, never knew Karnataka was so beautiful.

Thanks Pranav. Karnataka is indeed beautiful like rest of India offering exceptional topography and demography for all kinds of travelers and explorers. For me, still a long way to goOriginally posted by Pranav Mukul View PostThis is a really brilliant travelogue. I very much yearn to visit these places some day myself.

Ride 5: Lepakshi
Ride 5: Lepakshi
Lepakshi was on my wish list for quite some time. However, for one or the other reason, I could not visit this place, even though it was around 140 Kms from Bangalore.
Actually had some other plans to ride to some other destination. But woke up late. Hence, had to cancel the plan and decided to ride to Lepakshi.
Started at around 10.50 AM. Till Bagepalli, rode on NH7. The roads are fantastic except a small patch of repair.
One has to take diversion to left and continue to ride through country side road. Roads are in pretty good condition. However, one has to be careful with loose sand spread on the road and also some blind curves.
Caution: Through out the route (Both NH7 and SH) you would come across vehicle, both two and four wheeler being ridden and driven in the wrong lane in the wrong direction.
So, one has to be careful.
Today the weather was very convenient for ride. However, Lepakshi was sweltering hot.
The moment you enter Lepakshi, you would come across this beautiful Nandi statue. It's a great piece of architecture. Some facts about Nandi idol, as mentioned by a gentleman who was taking care of the spot.
Lepakshi Nandi is the biggest in India.
Second biggest is in Tanjavur. Third biggest is in Chamundi hills, Mysore. Fourth one is in 'Namma' (our own) Bengaluru, the famous bull temple
I was amazed looking at the sculpture. It took time to sink in. Paid my obeisance to the great Nandi. Spent quite some time taking pictures and just appreciating the sculpture. I was wondering thinking about the sculptors and their precision and above all the passion to create something so beautiful.
Checked with the gentleman if there was anything else to see. He mentioned about this huge temple, spread across 5 acres. Thanked him and continued to ride towards the temple.
Wow, the temple is huge and what a marvel. First, sought blessings of almighty. And, then went around and engrossed myself in the architectural marvel.
Spent about an hour and then paid my obeisance to almighty and started towards Bangalore.
My beast was thoroughly soaked in sun and the moment I sat on my beast, it reminded me of the most common threat during my childhood by my mom ( it was said every time in a jocular mood) and I quote "I would put a hot tong on your bum, if you don't mend ways". The seat was so hot that I seriously felt a hot tong on my bum
Reached home at 5.30 PM. I was thoroughly refreshed after this short ride.
Covered a distance of around 324 Kms (Little more than i planned as I lost my way after entering Bangalore)
Time for some snaps.
Beautiful clouds:

Noticed that soil color of agricultural fields changed to black

My Italian Beauty:

The Great Nandi:

To get an idea of size of the Nandi, look how small a man looks in front of Nandi

In order to get an idea about detailing of the sculpture, look at the necklace sculpted around neck of Nandi

Architecture marvel. Lepakshi temple:

Lord Almighty:

The foot print above is supposedly of Goddess Sita, and trust me it's huge.

I prefer fruits while riding

Re: Weekend/ Holiday rides: Joy of Motorcycling
Great pics and travelogues buddy... Knowing more about the locations as well as our Italian beauty.
With your inspiration, I'm starting on the rides too though much shorter and slightly dull in comparison to your locations which look superb.
However, still 250 km to go for 1st service and 1000 km target. How's the bike taking your frequent rides?
My only trouble so far is that I had to stop every hour to get past the numbness in the bum. I find the seat to be on the softer side for longer rides.

Well, so far so good. I am quite used to long hauls. Initially, I had slight leg pain due to change in stance. Earlier I was taking my Avenger for long rides which has been reduced to a commuter now.

Amazing,
These two are my favorites....
I thought I spoiled the pictures by editing them. I am very amateur when it comes to photography and editing.
But glad that you liked them
