Guys, for staying options, check Youth Hostel Association too. Their hostels are generally good, specially the Delhi and Manali hostels are really good. Even the Srinagar one looks good. BCMtouring had positive review on their new Leh hostel.

Ok. Done. Btw, do you know how to repair a puncture? Unless at least one person from each group knows how to repair a puncture, carrying puncture kit will be pointless.

Also I would suggest that at least 2 puncture repair kits should be available with the group.

@ Inder - I do not agree that purchase of thermals should be deferred till manali. Thermals cost 750 for whole set for Jockey and 600 for Rupa etc. How much money you will save buying it in manali? If you wish, I will provide thermals wholesaler addresses in Pune.

I have those reflective jackets but I believe that since all the saddlebags have reflective tapes on them, those jackets will not be necessary. However, if someone wishes to wear them, please let me know and I can carry them.

@ alankar - I believe that we can skip on GPS. It is not a strict necessity in my opinion. Others opinion please.

@ animeher - We have already explored this idea but the average room rental is above the group's per day budget. Thanks for the info though.

Buy thermals from a wholesaler. MRP is some 600-700, and I got mine from a Mumbai CST shop (in Masjid) for some 300-350 bucks. Quite a substantial savings for two pairs.

@trustvishwas: If at all the group size is large enough, you can book the whole dormitory, which is usally 8-10 beds, and cost hardly 80-100 per head.

Satyen, so sorry to hear that you are out of this ride. Are you sure that there are no sinister plans underneath this statement and some plans to join some other members leaving later?

And now that you are out of the ride, why don't you lend your newly designed tail bag to inder for road testing?

@ Dinesh - Satyen has been sick for so many days in the last 3-4 months, management was worried and ordered him to a complete health check up (now paid by company and to be deducted from salary ) and complete bed rest till reports are received. That is the real reason behind his resignation.

I will be working in Yamaha show room sometime this week so who else either knows all this or is willing to learn it?

Batteries
Please note that praful had mentioned that normal cells do not work above a certain altitude so whenever possible, please switch to Li-Ion batteries.

Activity In-Charge
Can guys please volunteer for being in charge of the activities mentioned below:

• Railway booking, confirmation, cancellation etc. - Vishwas
• Hotel accommodation booking –
• Money Management -
• Communications, photography backup, blog writing etc. –
• Route planning, gathering detailed information about the places to visit, fuel stations, road conditions etc. –

Details of point no. 1, 2 and 5 needs to be detailed in the thread at least 7 days before departure dates so everyone can digest the information available.

Rider confirmation and groups
As far as I know, the confirmed riders are –

How do we intend to divided these riders in groups? I personally believe that the faster, safer and more responsible riders should be in the second group so that they can take care of any of the problems faced by first group and still make up time. Ideally the second group should leave 15-20 min. later than the first group or they will be bored by slow riding. Opinions please.
