one thing which we used to do for snow treks was a home remedy sorta thing for the shoes.
take a normal candle & rub it on the surface of the shoe completely.leave it in the sun.the wax melts & forms a protective cover.
do this 3-4 times & the shoes are more waterproof now.
ps:don't take the meaning of candle & rubbing otherwise.This advice is for paaji members ;-)sigpic

we stayed in a hotel during the same time at leh which was for 250 bucks near shanti stupa.. it was more of a farm house and was beautiful
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.
Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

One small tip from my side. You can use Yatra.com for a single night stay booking at budget hotels, getting your hotel cost down to 200-250rs night.

But do read the rules, no multiple bookings of consecutive nights allowed! I am sure you are creative enough....

250 bucks for a room or person? What was the name of the hotel?
There are several seasonal hotels in Leh. It is basically a home where the owner stays with a couple of rooms attached.

Hey rachit, just searched your blog and found -
After searching for some places we started heading to the inner parts of the town & found a guest house "Goba Guest House". It was a really beautiful place having an authentic Ladakh architecture. We got two rooms as we had to stay for 3-4 days here. It was darn cheap, we got two rooms for total of just Rs. 500 for one night.

Two Updates -
1) Vodafone postpaid work at those circuit.Obviously after selecting the BSNL network.
2) A good friend from Jammu adviced to not to use the Army trousers and Boots.
