Boss! Dont mind my saying but all i can say to that is : It feels like a freshly graduated/ post graduated guy who goes for a job interview and the interviewer asks him about his "JOB EXPERIENCE".

"Good touring experience" gaya pani mein (lol); i just bought my first bike (15th April) and i am trying my best to complete the breaking in period in this HEAT! Phew!!!

I was planning to hire a bike last year and go to leh but could not convince my friends, etc to tag along; When Ninja was launched in Sep/ Oct, i was convinced that this will be my 1st bike and the first thought that came to my mind was Leh...

Well i have done a lot of trips, hills/ plains etc, but that has always been on a 4 wheeler, i love to drive and tour, this will be my 1st trip, some friends of mine have planned a trip to leh in Aug, but i cannot depend on them and risk my trip, that is the only reason i am asking u, if i can tag along, if you think otherwise, i will not mind and take it in good spirit....

By the way i am Gurpreet; born and brought up in Delhi; DOB 24/05/1978; Working in Standard Chartered Bank; job ex 6 yrs+ (same bank)....
      Thanks!!!

        OK! You are HIRED...

        lolz, jokes apart.
Well am not the only one riding, other too are. I dont have any problem, you can tag along if you promise me a ride on your Ninja. Another Paaji (Aman paaji) will be riding with me from Delhi to manali & then we meet another paaji there, Indradeep Paaji
Only thing/problem is that you own a Ninja & its Monoshocks have a very less ground clearance, you sure you wana take it to Leh?
Anyways, It'll be fun, hop in

@ALL: I hope you guys dont mind one more person in our already overloaded BUS

Now why aren't we looking at the experience part?!?

Hey, I own a ninja so I know for a fact that the monoshock ground clearance is not the actual issue. The trouble is stones thrown by front tyre / bike ahead of you. Those stones are sure to break your fairing. Normally, people remove lower fairing and ride. However, in Ninja, we don't have that option.

Last sunday, we had a small off road ride as a practise session for Leh. One guy, Jakrap (who has done 7000 km in a month on ninja including a trip to kerala) was riding his ninja. Our group (with me on FZ) were riding at around 35-40 kmph while he had to ride @ 20-25 just to protect his fairing. Doing this for 50 km is ok but doing this for the whole of Leh ride won't be much fun.

So for this ride, I am giving my ninja to a friend and borrowing his FZ. I strongly suggest you try to get another bike.

@ aman - if you guys are looking at a ride on Ninja, why don't you guys come to Pune? We have 4 ninjas in our group and if you bring any other bike above 600cc, we are always willing to swap them for a short while.

Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

he is 32 dude, usually people around that age are responsible & hence it plays an important role in getting a place in a riding group

@GuRpReEt SiNgH: One thing, make sure you have all the riding gears mentioned in the first page. Abiding by all the given rules is a must

I am 40 so I get nominated as the most responsible among this group. Thanks for the confidence.

Lemme find out about someone who must have taken his/ her ninja to such a trip....

We dont have prior riding experience with you and hence would realy advice against tagging along. Hope you understand.
PS: People from Delhi head to leh all the time! Why dont you tag along with them!
Ninja on Leh, I dont think anyone has done that so far, our advice is to avoid it to save you from the troubles especially considering its a pretty new bike!

This thought has been troubling me ever since i booked this bike, but from whatever knowledge i have gained by reading blogs, forums, magazine articles, etc., is that there will be a strech or streches in b/w the ride from manali to leh that will be without a road; the entire strech b/w manali & leh is not that bad (offroading types); Please enlighten me if i am wrong....

The 165mm ground clearance of 'my' bike had stones coming and hitting its bottom at times, but that's only because I was ripping my bike even on the bad roads. For a bike with a GC of 135mm you have to slow & careful.

Yes.. Specially the road from Manali to Rohtang Pass is bad.. full of mud, water, rocks & imagine taking sharp turns in it..!!
at some patches really unbelievable roads are there which has excellent tarmac.. but some patches.. worst roads & sometimes NO roads..
