This used to happen when I started thinking of Leh. Even today, if I start to read this log again, I can't stop till I complete it.Originally posted by christo View Post
Sirji, I have gone to Leh only once. You did it twice so your are more knowledgeable. I just have more spare time on hand so could write so much contentOriginally posted by rachitkohli View Post

Where is the store selling army gear located in pune looking for army boots and pants? do you also know any store which sells army stuff in mumbai?
Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostThe store does not have any name. It is located in Juna Bazar in Pune. The clothes sold are brand new. However, not all sizes are available all the time. Alankar Mishra and Ketan_R15 know location of this shop.
I am not aware whether this is available in Mumbai.

Also it has been pointed out by my serving friend, that the clothes available there are not legally available.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Expected Costing
One thing I had not posted earlier on this thread was about expected costing of this ride. I completely understand that the cost of tour will vary for every group and their preferences. However, below are a few indicators of this ride costing:
Total Rs. Rs.44,500
Note : I can only suggest costing from Pune.Last edited by trustvishwas; 12-12-2011, 05:02 PM.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

read 28pages at a stretch which took about more than 3hours and its already 4:15am..would have read the latter part too but doing a saddlesore on a bike is easy and less painful than having a saddlesore while reading such long and interesting trip logs
So will sleep now and will read it later....for sure..if not for the amazing pics and journey..atleast for the potshots taken
And now i definitely know the receipe how a trip log can sell like hotcakes
Just make sure you include some lagging riders, karizmatic riders and some people who shouldnt be named...!!
A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

Statutory warning: The route for Rajasthan trip passes through NH3.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Hello Vishwas,Originally posted by trustvishwas View Postand it is infested with antzzzz
I know it is a tad late to ask but..
I will be taking my Ninja on a Mumbai-Udaipur-Delhi-Chadigarh-Jammu-Srinagar-Drass-Leh-Pangong Tso-Upshi-Sarchu-Manali-Delhi-Indore-Mumbai trip on this June.
1. How was the quality of fuel between Srinagar and Leh ( I know that you have not traveled on the Leh-Manali part)?
2. Most of the threads I have visited is suggesting a sure fall from the bike
What is your opinion as a fellow Ninja owner? Did you hit much patches of black ice\slush on the way?
My itenary has been heavily influenced by your preperations. Thanks a lot for the amazing thread.

hi vishwas sirOriginally posted by trustvishwas View PostPre Ride Preparation
1. Bike
Ever since I bought a Ninja, I wanted to take it for Ladakh ride. MG, Praful and several other guys strictly advised me against doing so. So my hunt for a bike started. The most serious challenge was that whichever bike I borrowed for the ride, I would need to give my Ninja to that guy for the duration. Several candidates propped up in my mind but finally my childhood friend won the contest hands down because I knew that he would be too scared to take my bike out on the road. Since he had a FZ, I finalized on taking a FZ to Leh.
2. Off Roading Experience
3. Endurance
4. Luggage
Then I decided to keep quite about my plans and not to leak anything to paaji. In the mean time niks_devil asked me whether I wanted to borrow his saddle and tank bags. I jumped on the offer and took delivery of the luggage immediately. Niks must have thought I had gone mad to collect bags so early but I was afraid that paaji will claim this luggage also. The Rohit asked me whether I would like to borrow his sack + bungee cord and Ankit asked me whether I would like to borrow his gloves. I picked up all this material well in advance and then only informed the group about my progress.
5. Clothes
6. Maps, Geographical Info etc.

Fuel pumps looked good and bike did not behave badly so the fuel quality should be good. I have no other way of identifying bad fuel quality.Originally posted by Mithungo View PostHello Vishwas,

Chances of you dropping your bike at least once during the ride are very high. As a Ninja owner, I would recommend not to take ninja to Leh. The reasons being :-Originally posted by Mithungo View Post2. Most of the threads I have visited is suggesting a sure fall from the bike
What is your opinion as a fellow Ninja owner? Did you hit much patches of black ice\slush on the way?
1. Ninja is uncomfortable at riding on broken roads at slow speeds. You would be much better off on any other commuter.
2. You can only dream about getting any part anywhere in kashmir. FYI, I rode on a bent alloy for more than 2000 km because spare rim was not available anywhere in Rajasthan.
3. Ninja fairing costs 10+k for one side. Do you really want to spend that amount?
This does not mean that you can't take your ninja to Leh and further. Ground clearance is not an issue. If you are going after 20th June, chances of you encountering black ice are very low. However, we both don't know how many patches you would encounter.
I hit several patches of black ice/slush on the way but I travelled in first half of June because I wanted lesser tourist traffic and wanted to enjoy riding in snow.
Also to look out is sand blowing out on road en-route to Pangong and Hunder.
I can't because :-Originally posted by asifhooda View Posthi vishwas sir

1. I am not a dealer for any of those items
2. I don't know your sizes
3. I don't know your price range
4. I don't know how you can collect them from me (and if you are coming to Pune to collect them, you might as well buy them yourself)Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.
