    The Leh 2013 Planner

    This is for all those who've been Leh'd.

    Is it possible to ride up to Leh-Ladakh anytime before June? Am looking at mid of May as a possible time.
    Would appreciate if someone could throw some light on the kind of expenses one is looking at, keeping the rider's gear aside. A ball park figure would do

    I would be riding from Delhi.

      i do want to visit Leh on my Yamaha R1 but don't have company with me
      any1 can join me
      no such date or time is fixed
      would love to join any other group who all are going for Leh road trip
      me from Kolhapur Maharashtra and Leh is 2800 km
      ready to do it after the event in Goa on 2nd and 3rd Feb
      which month can we visit Leh ?

              i am thinking of doing Leh in the Month of June or end of May... as that is the time when there is best season in Leh,
              will be doing all the research work before beginning..

                Guys ,, not advisable to go in MAY or before as the roads may be closed due to heavy snow on roads ...

                Plan for either June or best would be JUly 1st week so that much of roads are clear and still u would be able to see some amt ( means very much) snow on road sides ...

                Also climate would be favorable for riding in June / July...

                I have been already been there by Mahindra Scorpio this july and it was too good ...

                    I m planning for leh in May last week as i have heard that the Srinagar-kargil-leh route is open by then...
                    The Manali Rohtang route opens mostly in june first week....So my plan is to go via srinagar and come via manali or if that route is not open will be returning via the same route....
                    Will be travelling solo till now... But dont know maybe will get company of my friends till that time...
                    Will be heading on my CBZ-Xtreme from Delhi...

                      Getting Leh is possible in MAY if the Srinagar leh route is open... But dont expect the manali route to be open by then,.... It normally opens by the first week of June....
                      Regarding the expenses on the tour-
                      Fuel around INR 7500-10000(depending upon your riding style and bike's mileage)
                      Stay and Food- 5000-10000 max for around 14 days of stay....

                      So in total excluding riding gears and misc,your trip expenses will be around 20k INR....

                              I used these maps last year and it was a blessing. GPS in Leh is just paper weight. Local knowledge or ask and go is the best from my experience. Thanks for sharing. For those who wanna get leh'd the above maps are very helpful. Still carry your own research stuff.
