Till nanjangud it is about average.Past nanjangud its freshly laid asphalt. But why dont you take Tiruppur-Annur-Metupalayam-Ooty-Mysore.The distance is more by just 20 kms,but its defnitely worth the route. The happy ride is only till the TN border near hasanur, beyond that is Bad for a long distance.I know the conditions till Mettupalayam,if you can manage that 50km stretch the rest of the ride will be peacefull buddy.

      • Kochi - Munnar - Idukki - Kochi route query

Hi, I am planning on a ride this Sunday to ward off the insane heat of Kochi.

This route is what I am planning to take.

I have heard that Kochi - Munnar road is heavenly. Could someone please advice me on the Munnar - Rajakkad - Mailadumpara - Nedumkandam - Erattayar - Idukki - Painavu - Udumbannoor roads?

Is it okay for these roads to be travelled solo? I ride a Hero Honda Hunk and use all safety gear,
        1993-1997 - BSA WildCat
        1998-2002 - Hercules TopGear
        2002-2010 - Honda Activa
        2010-2013 - Hero Honda Hunk

Roads from Kochi - Munnar and Periyar to Munnar are great, and mostly Periyar to Kochi will be good to. No problem for solo riding. The roads are safe.

              Hi Satish,

Best way to reach puttur is via sakleshpur.. The shiradi ghats is newly laid down and its easy to cruise now.

The road between Madikeri and Sulya is closed for renowation but 2 wheelers are permitted. Kindly avoid it as lots of places the road is dug up completly.

I traveled through this route on this Tuesday,,it is perfectly okay for 2&4 wheelers, but it is not opened for heavy vehicles because of one landslide in the 12 hairpin bend

We go to Goa every year but take our bike by train up to Madgaon most of the time. Planned to ride down this time to have a more flexible schedule. Moreover our Bangalore/Kerala ride last December has me itching to ride.
Had originally planned to go Bangalore/Hubli/Yellapur/Ankola/Karwar/Goa with a break at Hubli (friend,s place), may still do it!
Haveri to Kumta is only about 80k.m I think. If that stretch is not too bad it seems like a shorter route. Any way I love the Ankola/Karwar/Goa ride on NH 17 with the sea on your left it has absolutely stunning views. Just hope the road is fine so we can enjoy the ride

                      Thanks again buddy,
                      Take care & Ride Safe

+1,especially after rains if the roads are in good shape then its icing on the cake

Here's a better route both in terms of road conditions and scenic beauty :-

                          Bangalore - Gabbur[Hubli] - Ankola - Madgaon

This runs along Anshi National Park for quite some distance!

We may take the route you suggested since we plan to meet a friend at Hubli. Just felt that the route via Haveri/Sirsi is shorter by about 50k.m. Just not sure about the road from Haveri to Kumta, trying to get some feedback on that stretch.

                            Thanks again buddy,

                            • Hyderabad to Vijaywada.

                              Hi every one in Xbhp

I am planning for a road trip from Hyderabad to Vijaywada. I will be glad if someone can provide the current status of the road, where I have to be carefull and how fast I can go on the stretch. Also when should I start from hyderabad and how many hours would it take to reach my destination.

I have been through the thread and there has been mentioned that the road is not so very good but one has to go at a slow pace cause the road is very buzy.

                                Hi to all.........

Yeaterday had a trip on my pulsar 220F to the Nagarjuna sagar dam and the nearby waterfall from Hyderabad.

Since this is a road experince thread I want to say that the road though with some patch work is very good.
I was travelling all the way at a speed of 80+ but still the road seemed to be inviting. It was because that my bike is very new and have'nt completed even the first service that I had to force myself to below 90 speeds. Very happy with the road.

Again planning after my servicing is over to exploit my bike potential.....
