  • Re: Tyres

Is there much difference between the FZ front and R15 V2 front apart from the size?
FZ front (i.e. Zapper FX) is 100/80 (i.e. width = "100" mm; height=100*0.80="80" mm); it will be your stock tyre size. From what I have heard, it is a pretty good tyre. I haven't personally experienced it.

R15 V2 front (i.e. Zapper FY1) is 90/80 (i.e. width = "90" mm; height=90*0.80="72" mm); it won't be stock; both width and height will reduce (But by how much; by 10 mm and 8 mm respectively; do you think that'll make difference). I have experienced it on R15 V2 as well as on my previous bike RTR180; and I vouch for its grip levels.)

It is commonly accepted rule of thumb that one size up or down from stock is acceptable and safe.

Another issue is can CBR150R's rims handle the tyres. Here's a link for the same.

changed my stock tvs front tire finally. got myself ceat zoom f 90/90 x 17". bloody good tire. goes well with my rear mrf vyde. beautifull grip.

      tires so far used -
tvs- crap. very bad grip. used for 40k kms and it was cracking up.
pirelli- awesome but wears off soon, (front tire for my rear fitment), was good for rear use too.
mrf- best for indian roads, currently using.
ceat- exceeded my expectations, currently using.

@AV8TOR, what are your thoughts on this?

Probably the compounds are the same, even if there's a difference it wont be much, Size and Tread pattern differ !
But again, as i mentioned before, I aint really a fan of upsizing or downsizing, atleast when it comes to the front tyre !

Both are good tires w.r.t to their spec. The tire which the R15 uses is more or less spec engineered for the bike offers excellent grip, on the other hand the FX series are good too, but I wouldn't recommend interchanging either of their front tire with the two bikes

Sealants are as good as a tubeless tire, they hold most of the time, but sometimes they don't. But 90% they do, and if you're tuff up tires more or less use the same technology, so if it works for it, it should work for you with no hassles.

Wasn't planning to interchange them. I have the R15 V2 rear tyre fit on my CBR150R. But the R15 stock front won't fit my bikes stock. The FZ's will. Hence the query.

Fitting a broader tire on a narrower rim will cause some issues, I've faced with one of my bikes and it was reported by one friend of mine using the FZ front tire in his Pulsar 220 90/90 spec and he was all woes with it. I had jittery feel when braking using over size in the front. Rear doesn't count.

Why not REVZ, as there isn't much options left out for the rear. Front perhaps you can consider MPS

My stock front is 100/70/17. The R15 V2 is 90/70/17. The FZ front is 100/80/17. That's why was planning to the put the FZ front. As far as I have been able to find out, the only difference between the FY and FX series is the size and the tread pattern. The compound seems same.

I already have the Rev z installed on the rear. Thats a perfect fit.

FZ tire is a very good tire and handles very well but I spewed my two cents worth. But I'd leave it up to you to decide what suits you best.

Thanks! Yes. I've thought about it a fair bit and this seems the best option available at the moment. If I were to go for Michelins or Pirellis, will have to oversize the front as they only come with 110 front. 100 in the front is a rather odd tyre size, and only the FZ and the CBR150R have it. I would put the Zapped FY1, but am not too keen to undersized the front. That's why my main concern was on the grip of the FZ front, as if it's on par with the R15, then it's perfect for me.

A question guys, if we upsize the front tyre, what are the advantages/disadvantages of doing the same ?
I know the turning would take a little more effort than before, but other that this ?

                            Ride safe and have fun.

You can always consider a famed or reputed station nearby. Most stations don't have nitrogen, but you need not worry about using ordinary compressed air, it's more than suffice. Of course nitrogen is better in the long run for improved tire and rim life. Just keep searching nearby your area, you might get some luck.

Yeah you are right, most stations don't have nitrogen. I just transferred my bike from Kerala to Pune and I have been using nitrogen till now. But now i think i have to go with the ordinary compressed air since i can't find a place to fill nitrogen nearby.
                                Thanks for the advice bro
