    hi...
i have been using the BA2201 K&N air filter for the past one month or so and ever since i have fitted it the engine seems to pick up heat alot as compared to when i was using the stock air filter....
i drive to and from work everyday, a total distance of ~50kms. is this going to cause any problem to my bike???

Some people used to unofficially fit in a HIGH FLOW RC1060 directly to their bike's carburettor. I did it too once, but removed it for safety reasons... It looked like this:

Anyone fitting RC 1060 directly should:

    1. rejet their bikes suitably,
    2. use/ create another airbox so that the entire dust doesn't fall on the filter completely,

Yours is a specific model made by K&N for Pulsars only. Your filter BA 2201 does NOT require any rejetting. So no problem.

If you cut your exhaust or modify it in any way, then scavenging will be affected and the bike will not perform optimally, in fact it will perform worse than a stock bike, even if sound/ noise increases.

You have 2 good choices: Get a P220-only performance exhaust from any good manufacturers (Joel Joseph of Raceconcepts, Bengaluru OR Automech exhausts- Mumbai, etc.)... Or keep your stock exhaust as it is.

Automech sells for around Rs. 6000. For Raceconcepts, talk directly to them at the email: [email protected].

Engine seizures can happen only if the AFR is too lean which will lead to over heating of engine. Since You have installed the stock replacement filter, the AFR should be good but, still you can check the tuning. Upjetting is not always necessary if You can just fiddle with the air screw and get things in place.

I don't know why people are desperately looking for increasing the sound of their bikes. IMO P220 already has a very sweet roar.

by muffler do you mean db killer? if yes then it will increase the throttle responce but sound is horrible for stock silencer and it wont harm the engine but street dogs will try to harm you afaik(correct me if im wrong)
if you wanna check the exhaust note search about p220 with no db killer in youtube

    K&N BA 2201 doesn't require rejetting.
Only the conical K&N filters need rejetting and they can screw up the engine too, because mostly, they require the airbox to be removed which put all the dirt solely on to the filter.

In short, let it remain the way it is...

i have this one from 6 months in p200.
yes air filter sensor is not working with this filter but don't worry about it.
just clean it when you done 5k kms.
still you want to hide it then remove one wire from sensor its just below your seat.

    Topic Approved.

Last time I checked, the other owners were also complaining of this, but reportedly they had no other issues. The change in the air flow may have caused this light to come up.

Some reviews of this filter may be found at the last pages of this link: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/195...-pulsar-5.html

Anyone wants to add something helpful to this topic?
