need help in boosting performance.......
Dude am just a entery level bike user....
But am interested in bikes.....
I got the pulsar 180....
One of my friends told me to use k and n airfilter for performance and sound....
Some said using k and n cone filter will allow more dust in ....so it will lead to major damage to engine....
So I choosed k and n stock replacement air filter....it gave me some performance boost.....
And again my friend asked me to use ngk irridium spark plug
I fitted that too with split fire silicon cable....now am planing to buy Pirelli tyre front 110/70 or110/ 80 or 100/70 or 100/80 and rear 130/70...... And after that am planning for free flow exhaust.......
This is my situation please tell me the best modification for performance gain and good mileage too....shall I stick to mrf zapper tyre or shall I upgrade to Pirelli.....

@ raghu123
what exactly are u looking to do with the filter ?
u want that roaring sound or u just need to change the filter to after market ones to get little performance bump ?
.
ive used K&N , HP , Green cotton , and both paper n foam filters of the Honda stock ones
according to me the HP , Honda's paper are both equal and this HP filter doesn't need re jetting , just little tuning that's it
,
its gives smooth air flow and uniform acceleration , u can easily feel it !

how about hole in air box ... any specific place to hole up ?
well what will the sound be like ?
sorry i ask a lot to know more
and anyway what happen in high idle and low idle setting ?
i re tuned today hicups reduced only thing is i need patience so i can observe the TUNE
well i dint install the DIY filter , like as u said its risky so.........

you need to do a proper tuning .. i used to ride my kinetic nova with screw driver and used to ride and then tune it a bit like adjusting the petrol flow screw.. then riding then adjusting and so on till i get it perfectly tuned ..
though it look weird opening the boot after half km but it is a good way.
i told you before bad tuning will cause hiccups and sound like bullet shots
better you get it tuned else performance, mileage and top end all will be effected.

well currently it is giving HICCUPS ... last tune at svc ( i do it myself but it was tuned last at the svc with full service )
well any idea why hiccups ? its more like sudden gush of air through the scilencer making a air pressure release ...
lol In my language a FART

You are welcome mate, making hole will give more air flow thats for sure and it wont effect the engine as of course air filter is meant for what ??
it should increase your performance as more airflow and after tunning i guess more pick up.
Not so sure about spare air box, but in case you dont like it you can fill it with m-seal or any other thing. Try making holes with screw driver just heat the tip of screw driver will give you decent holes and they are also easy to fill later on.
But tunning is the important thing, it can give you pickup or hiccups

Raghu: The serious damage to the engine and carb will occur if you live in a dusty place, since ideally in this condition your mod filter will not be performing its duty as expected. In city conditions I think you can try your mod for few days and find out if it really is effective. Be sure to cover the surface of the mod filter with thin coat of 20w-40 for helping you catch more dust than the dry filter.
Upjetting, better leave it to pro's and go by their suggestion.

@juscallmelarry .
Thanks for that info man
but this not really for sound change i wanted some bit of performance i.e more inflow of air .. and i used up some old exoskeleton of the filter (metal parts except filter material )..
hence u gave me an idea of hole in air box ... thinking of pearcing 2 mall holes
but any consequences , engine blocking / anything ?
and by the way do we get spare airbox lid ? just in case i dont like the sound ??
